NorthWET winter: here it comes again

Remember the atmospheric river “fist” I blogged about on Friday? Well, here comes the second of the 1-2 punch:

atmosphericriver-02111615

… and this time it’s coming in with winds high enough to knock down trees and knock out power.

Ohhhhhhhhh I am so sick of winter!

But. On the good side. After a year of drought and two weeks or so of early winter, the reservoirs here in the NorthWET hold at least a six-month’s supply. There’s snow for the skiiers, too.

I haven’t checked. Are you Californians getting any of this? I know you need it. Far as I’m concerned, you’re welcome to the whole darned rest of our rainy season. Please. Take it. It’s yours.

Don’t send it all to California, Claire. Wyoming could use a little of that rain too. So far, only dry clouds for months. Supposed to be a 50% chance of rain tonight, but we’ve had forecasts up to 90% “chance” with hardly a drop.

I want SNOW! 🙂 How nuts is that for an old California born gal? LOL

Okay, MamaLiberty, you can have your share, too! Only problem is that where you’re located winter likely has to pass through us first to get to you.

California, now we can just divert any unwanted rain to them without having to first experience it ourselves.

And snow??? Again, welcome to it! I could go the rest of my life without ever “enjoying” that again.

Today we have tornado watches and winds strong enough to rip any tornadoes apart and scatter the whirly bits to Oklahoma. Looks like I’ll be picking up shingles from around the yard again tomorrow. (Fortunately, not off the house, but “just” the car port and shed.)

Depending which forecast you want to believe, I’m looking for anywhere from about an inch to sixteen inches.
A blizzard warning has been issued for the Denver area because of a massive, El Niño-fueled winter storm

With the Denver area under a blizzard warning, snowfall projections steadily increased Monday and forecasters say as much as 16 inches are now expected.

And I’d happily send all that Northward for ML, if I could.

They’re calling it “Ajax”. The Weather Channel is saying 5-8″ in Denver metro.

Well, I have my tire chains, cat litter, and shovel in the car. Just ocurred to me I should bring my snow brush inside so I don’t have to open the car door to get to it in the morning.

Tornadoes and snowstorms and high wind warnings — Oh my! Seems we’re ALL in for another interesting winter. Good luck, Kent and jed. MamaLiberty, I’m guessing you won’t have to wait too long for your snowstorm.

Waking up to about 6-8″ of snow here NW of Colorado springs. Still coming down so who knows where it’ll end up. Having no reason to be out, it’ll be a lovely day to slow cook a pot roast on the wood stove.

After a wet spring, it was a dry summer with red flag fire warnings on a regular basis, so I won’t complain about the moisture.

Not one darn drop of rain or flake of snow. Nada… Mostly clear skies already this morning. Bummer…

I was over in the Puget Sound are this weekend past, for a 2 day commo class.

I had forgotten how MUCH it rains over there. Glad to be back home in a fairly dry zone.

idahobob — Glad you made it back to the dry. This weekend was exceptionally rainy, even for this exceptionally rainy part of the country. Even devoted Northwesterners were whining about it. 🙂

Karen — Gotta admit that first snow of the season is always pretty. But you’re welcome to it anyhow. You can ship your excess up to MamaLiberty who is so very bereft.

Down here we’re getting our first sun in several days.

I played in the snow in Pennsylvania and Nebraska. Down here you can cuss you want, but you don’t have to shovel hot.

Now that I think of it we spent a couple of winter months in Chicago when I was a little kid. But that snow was gray.

A little rain and snow at last. Not much, but very welcome. The wind, however, is pretty stiff. Nobody showed up for the shooting clinic this morning, sadly, even though we have a nice indoor range. I guess it’s going to be just me until spring time. 🙁 Might as well snow.
