Yesterday, the New York Times did something it hasn’t done for 95 years. It printed an editorial on its front page. Last time it did that, it was 1920 and flappers and jazz were just becoming a “thing.”
So you’d expect such an editorial to be full of new, original, powerful, unprecedented thinking, right?
Um, well, yeah. Maybe not when it’s about guns. Over at TZP, I give the NYT a little hell.
I expect I won’t be the only one.

Why would they offer “new ideas” when they have been shoveling Absolute, Divinely-Revealed Truth for years?
Great article, Claire. I suspect they won’t even notice, however. Giving them “hell” would be to arrange for the malfunction of all their elevators for a few months… or spike the water coolers with LSD.
Guess what I read last night. LOL
Pretty much fed up with these asshats acting like all us law abiding gun owners are responsible for these terrorists.
A modest proposal…
(Please accept my apologies for the shameless re-write where I quote extensively while changing words and meaning)
“As usual no plan is outlined for drastically reducing numbers and eliminating large categories…We don’t want to consider what would actually end up being reduced and eliminated, now do we?”
Why not simply legislatively ban any and all ownership of weapons by the State and its agents and/or employees thereof? Perhaps with a little wiggle room with regard to the definition of a militia in time of a just war of self defense. I mean, I kind of agree that perhaps those “nasty folk [ought to] simply turn over [their] weapons for the good of humanity.”
“Because of course this law, unlike all other laws the world has ever known, [might show] us in a ‘clear and effective’ way” the evil those in power have been harboring in [their] hearts.
“I can envision us now, patiently lined up outside our local police stations or firearm [distribution] centers by the thousands, little [Gadsen] flags waving from the barrels of our Evil Black Rifles, patriotic gleams in our eyes as we wait to [acquire] these indecent, macho, insurrectionist arms for destruction” from the new gun sell-back (or perhaps giveaway) program.
“And a new day dawns in which nobody — nobody! — ever again commits mass [genocide] because the tools to do so have been made clearly and effectively illegal!
Think how many lives would be saved. At last, R.J. Rummel vindicated.
“Hooray and hallelujah for our glowing future!”
“A modest proposal…”
🙂 Well done, Dana. Good luck with the implementation, but well done.
