Sunshine and gun poly-ticks

For the first time in days it’s not drenching and flooding. Oh, there’s a little hail here and there. A few scattered thunder-boomers. The wetland across the road is extremely wet. And my waterfall (yes, I have my own personal waterfall, but only when the weather is like this) is merrily burbling away.

Other than that, it’s lovely. Blue. Dry.

Gave me a chance to put the dogs in the yard and go out and tape up a few more seams on Old Blue. Taping worked as a proof-of-concept but I apparently missed a few spots, first go-round.

More weather tomorrow.

But my roof doesn’t leak. Thank you, beautiful people, for that.

On another subject: This is poorly sourced. Well, actually not sourced at all, so take it for what it’s worth. It’s from a DC gossip site that has no love for Our Glorious Leader and the “news” might have been made up out of spiderwebs and tissue paper. But it’s sooooo believable.

If you wondered why Obama’s Oval Office speech the other night seemed even more lame and disconnected from reality than usual:

Immediately after the San Bernardino terror attack, the President of the United States was said to be initially interested in the events to the point of outright excitement for the opportunity to once again make a call for enhanced federal gun control measures – which he did.

Within hours of the attack it became clear to federal officials that Islamic terror played an integral role.

Once that was known, Mr. Obama’s enthusiasm is said to have “waned considerably.” And then when the L.A. FBI office went public with calling San Bernardino a terrorist attack, both Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett went into “warpath mode.”

Jarrett’s displeasure was apparently first to make itself known. She was outraged the FBI had done so without first getting prior approval from her. Jarrett was said to be particularly concerned with the proximity of the FBI’s terror designation and the president’s quick words on calling for more gun control measures soon after the actual San Bernardino terror attack….

At one point, the president is said to have flung several papers onto the floor of the Oval Office as he sat behind his desk stewing over Director’s Comey’s now-infamous terrorist attack remarks.

“This was supposed to be a gun issue for us, not some anti-Islamic bullsh*t!”

The article is titled “Obama Dragged to Address Terror Threat Kicking and Screaming.”

Made me laugh.

Morons imagine they govern us.

I think my brain has gone on strike. I can’t summon up even a passing interest in anything those idiots say or think, not even for the sake of mockery. So here’s something amusing:

That was hilarious, jed! Even before it got to the punch line. How many “science” films just like that did we blearily endure all through grade school and high school?

If the President’s “Senior Advisor” really thinks the FBI director should seek “prior approval” for a press release like that, I’ll bet it didn’t go over too well at FBIHQ. “Prior notice” perhaps, not approval.

Yep, jed. It was messy (though not fatal hereabouts). And more is still to come. I’m not sure how much rain we’ve had in this week’s series of storms, but I ran into our most devout local weather watcher yesterday and he told me we’ve had 60 inches of rain since August, for a total of 147 over the year. He may be exaggerating, but he doesn’t feel far wrong!

I believe the highest rain totals for this series of storms so far has been 18 inches. We didn’t have that much, but its definitely been gullywasher time — and for the third or fourth time since late summer. Big winds and waves with these rains, too. But the mountains, including in poor old California, are going to get lots of much-needed snow.

And LOL, I agree the science films from school were mostly sloooooowwwwer than that. But I do vaguely recall a series of science films that used puppets. Very vague recollection. But at least those were entertaining. The most excruciating were the films that explained genetics and reproduction. I’m not sure who was more embarrassed — the poor high school sophomores watching them or the actors appearing in them.

Gosh Claire! I think of you when I see those terrible Oregon pics and vids and hope and hope that the weather extreme doesn’t actually get to your house. Roof’s holding, car mostly holding, and how’s the black plastic on the back of the house holding?

I also hope and hope that the PNW weather doesn’t make a bee line for Colorado. We are forecast for some weekend snow, which doesn’t thrill me, with lots going on here.

I’ll bet Robbie and Ava aren’t too thrilled about all the wet. You stay safe and dry!!

Interesting that even the wholly fedgov owned FBI went against the narrative. Maybe there still are some patriots in the bureaucracy? Go Moles!

Hmmmm…. (tapping foot on the desk)…. we got, perhaps, an inch or two of snow from the last “storm.” You northwet people said you were going to share the moisture! sigh… Sounds as if you could spare some, but I think I understand. Shipping and handling would certainly be out of sight. LOL

    🙂

Okay, then, ML and Karen. Here’s hoping these NorthWET storms totally miss Colorado and whack Wyoming with all the pretty snow ML could wish. There. That’ll be fair, right? 😉

The plastic on the back of the house is holding up dandy cause it’s the back of the house — non-weather side. Water is still getting into the kitchen under the door, but that’s handleable and will someday be solved by a deeper porch overhang and a deck that isn’t flush with the doorway.

And I can’t even tell you Ava’s and (particularly) Robbie’s opinion of this weather! If it could be translated into English, it wouldn’t be printable. Robbie does, fortunately, have the advantage of an excellent rain jacket with a removable fleece liner given to him by MamaLiberty.

LOL! Indeed, fair for sure. But as you know so well, wishes aren’t horses. Guess we’ll take what we get, as always. I’m ready for it, and enjoying taking things out of the closet I’ve not been able to wear in a very long time. Never did understand why I bought so many warm, even heavy duty winter clothes when I lived in So. Calif. Now I’m very glad.

And I got new boots at Amazon! First time EVER that I got footwear which actually fit when shopping on line. These are not only sturdy and look good, they are waterproof! At least that’s the claim. We shall see. 🙂
