Thursday links

  • Jim Bovard on our fearmongering president.
  • Charles C.W. Cooke does it again. Our right to bear arms is not up for debate. (Heck, even that elitist, statist pig Alexander Hamilton knew that.)
  • Well. So much for all that oh-so-careful vetting.
  • Surprise, surprise. Iran lies and Obama just nods like a bobblehead doll.
  • Alas, the middle class is now a minority. The graph says it most vividly. You can feel the squeeze.
  • LOL! Glenn Harlan Reynolds on Donald Trump as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. (Or to put it another way, when leaders are fiddling while nations burn you don’t get John Galt flying to the rescue. You get Donald Trump … or Marine LePen … or worse.)

Holy sh*t, A.G. Never saw that. Never will see it all ’cause I lasted just one minute before my brain exploded.

I knew we were supposed to heed the word of movie stars and comedians on itty bitty things like gun control. But we’re supposed to take the “expert” advice of Jack Black and Morgan Freeman on nuclear arms deals???

Just when you think the world is as nutty as it can get, you learn you didn’t know the half of it …

If there is a discernible difference between actors and prostitutes, I’m unaware of it.

Prostitutes have sex with anyone that pays, actors screws the public with their words and works but only have actual sex amongst themselves.

Actors screw the public and the public pays (NEA).

On a more somber note, methinks there is little intellectual difference between that commercial and the garish pro-gov posters common in Maoist China or North Korea.

Further evidence that the US has officially left what might be termed “The Age Of Jefferson” and are witnessing the volatile birth pangs of “The Age Of American Totalitarianism”.

All presidents are fearmongers, not just Obama. That is their primary function in the government.

I guess I don’t get the point of the Iran complaint, at least from a libertarian point of view. I could see why neocons are not happy.

I don’t mean to say that deals between ruling classes are anything more than the bullshit they usually are. The government actually should not be messing around in the Middle East at all. But hey, this deal is better than “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran”. One has only to listen to most R candidates about such things, to gain an appreciation (even if reluctant) of Obama.

On a far more humorous note, here is a master at trolling working his craft:
