Yes, even when ‘Netless, I manage to pick up some newses. Enjoy.
- Another absurdly too-good-to-be-true “gun control” study OMG, these people are reaching so far it’s almost funny.
- Legalization does what the drug war never managed: cartel busting. How very unsurprising.
- No, we do not need an “encryption commission. No way. Nohow. Just plain NO.
- How the obnoxious PC police helped create Donald Trump.
- I know you gunfolk already heard, but West Virginia — over its governor’s cop-surrounded veto — this week became the latest state go constitutional carry
- Unfortunately, some people who ought naturally to have and carry firearms are still being fatally forbidden.
- A modern, yet very traditional example of shunning. (2 H/Ts to YB)
- How come stuff like this never happens to me???
- As you spring forward this weekend, consider some of the weirder aspects of the time change.
- Finally, another flash story courtesy of MJR. Yes, “they” may study us and weaken us for decades but they will never know our capabilities.

Oh, what a stupid gun control study. Louisiana has a gun death rate four times that of Massachusetts. So what. Wisconsin has the same rate of gun ownership as Louisiana and a fraction of the deaths. Lots of people here are packing but, outside of Milwaukee, the gun death rate is about the same as Canada.
Gun ownership or lack of ownership does not dictate the death rate.
Down with DST! And all they have to do is shift the clock 30 minutes either way and keep it there all year. Who could tell that much difference in the morning or evening?
Louisiana’s gunshot death rate higher than Massachusetts? Must be background checks. Couldn’t be that, uh, Louisiana’s people are different from Massachusetts’s.
Heh; if victim disarmer Hemenway thinks a pro-gun control study is garbage, you know it’s bad. And someone probably should have explained to Bindu Kalesan just how useless ballistics databases really are.
So that’s where I left those damned baseball cards…
In the comments on the “cartel busting” link, I read that the cartels are coming around to successful operations wanting their own piece.
This sounds reasonable – just wondering if that’s accurate and how big a problem it is.
I read the Gun Control piece. What a great idea. Let’s make guns Three Laws Safe. Sure, it didn’t work in Asimov’s robot filled world but hey, guns aren’t robots. It should work great.
Nothing like that ever happens to me either. Nope, not the Picasso at the garage sale either. I note that various items I possesed as a child are now collectors items. Had I only known, back in 2nd grade, to take better care of my Get Smart lunch box, I could be several dollars richer now.
But, for now, I’m doing my own ELP retrospective listening marathon. RIP, Keith Emerson.
