  • Federal appeals court judge says “mental health” ban on gun ownership may violate the Second Amendment. (Yes, you and I know it’s not only a matter of “may.”) (H/T PT)
  • Missouri joins the constitutional carry movement over the objections of its governor. (Tip o’ hat to L.A., who doesn’t like that last line any more than the rest of us purists do.)
  • Now, is the only kind of politician worth a damn.
  • Someone has established … are you ready? the basic laws of human stupidity.
  • Hillary: “A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home.” Gotta love that Colin Powell, perhaps the only person in the history of the ‘Net whose reputation was actually enhanced by his hacked emails.
  • Okay, some of the pix have been around a while and the title is dumb. But this should cheer you up, anyhow: the 100 most important dog photos of all time.

The mental health ban is a awful story. Clearly the man’s episode was situational and nothing more.

Powell said he “would rather not have to vote” for Hillary, which means – I think – he will. And calling birthers racists makes it clear where he’s coming from..

With pot legalization all but a sure thing, the DEA is grasping for other schedule 1 job justifications – http://www.newsweek.com/war-veteran-kratom-dea-taking-away-right-manageable-life-498996?google_editors_picks=true

I think this could really backfire on them though. Most people already recognize the failure of the war on some drugs and the randomness of the classification system (the DEA still refuses to admit that heroin and cocaine are more dangerous than marijuana!).

re “Basic laws of human stupidity”
Claire, you usually come up with interesting links but this one is priceless! Well done!

(Speaking of stupidity, Apple auto-correct turned “Well done!” Into “We’ll do everything!” before I caught/corrected it. Sigh …….)

Powell is a leftist, statist, and part of the My Lai coverup, which is why he dropped out of the potus race rather than being outed. Do a search, plenty of info not covered by the “media” on his record and statements. His rep my have been enhanced this time but still one of the elite scum, hard to polish a turd.

Is it too late to get Kirk Hammett on the ballot in all 50 states?

Probably won’t work. Joe Walsh tried it once, to no effect.

Dog photo #52 is a bit of a puzzle. I figure if I post this, somebody absolutely will figure it out.

I’ve had my Unfortunate Truths for a long time. They are similar to basic laws of human stupidity.

Unfortunate Truth Number One (UT1): People are idiots. (I definitely include myself here)

UT2: People rarely do what they assure you they will do. The more insistently they assure you, the less likely it is that it will occur.

UT3: Nothing is ever as important to the other person as it is to you.

UT4: Entropy and adversity forever increase.

UT5: People don’t want to hear the truth; they want you to tell them what they want to hear, and then make it true.

UT6: Any solved problem creates new problems.

Also, the dog pics were hilarious. Sometimes I almost think I need a pug. Almost.

    — and dog pic #52, that’s what can happen when you photograph a moving object with an iPhone. Look up pics of moving propellers taken with iPhones to see some other odd effects.

    Today was Constitution Day, IMHO this article is spot on for the why of what has happened to our constitutional republic and a potential solution to bringing us back to what our forefathers intended;

“The overwhelming majority of Americans don’t know that today is the celebration of the 229th Anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution (tomorrow is the actual anniversary, but it is a weekend). On September 17, 1787, thirty-nine delegates to the Constitutional Convention from 12 states signed the document establishing the most effective form of government ever known to man. Towards the end of his life, James Madison reflected in his notes on the Constitutional Convention that

[T]here never was an assembly of men, charged with a great & arduous trust, who were more pure in their motives, or more exclusively or anxiously devoted to the object committed to them, than were the members of the Federal Convention of 1787, to the object of proposing and devising a constitutional system which would…best secure the permanent liberty and happiness of the country.[1]

Interesting statistic. If Missouri is the 12th unrestricted carry state there are now half-again as many of them as there are discretionary probably-won’t-issue states.

Doesn’t really fit the “small and shrinking minority” premise.
