It is frightening how quickly it deteriorates.
Civilization is five meals from the jungle.
Shows what the dependence on oil does to both the people who have it, and the people who buy it. A world economy that revolves around a diminishing resource, is going to be F-ed up. We can already see it in the Middle East, now it’s hitting other oil rich countries. Beyond the ecological damages of burning fossil fuels, we need to take a good look at the economic damages, and invest in other forms of energy. It’s basic self preservation, but not everyone will think ahead, just like in Venezuela, and we’ll need to protect ourselves from those that aren’t prepared, and/or feel what other people have, they should have also.
Having mangoes, and solar power (or some form of alternative energy) isn’t going to help someone if they can’t keep what they have.

Not really. Venezuela’s problem is a government that nationalized its healthy petroleum industry and scuttled it, then pretty much ran every other successful industry out of business. As socialism always does, because profits are evil and everything should be distributed “fairly,” which as soon as the inevitable kleptocracy settles in means all the wealth gets diverted into offshore accounts..
The real pity is that AFAIK Venezuela is one of the places where growing food is really easy.
I feel bad for the family that bought our property in Venezuela. We had 4 mango trees and 3 avocado trees plus 2 lemon and 2 orange….
” because profits are evil and everything should be distributed “fairly,”
Ah yes, that language I think to be of sociopaths and thieves. Those who pray on others and send children to learn not to think, but to be obedient. This, so no sovereign local tribe or community can withstand.
Sum of human history so far. Integral of human nature.
I’m with the resist this, camp, though this may be futile as ant vs elephant.
Maybe more ants? That don’t appreciate the mastodon being boss?
I’ll watch on Venezuela, for how long this tragedy go on.
And now I’m fault for ad hominem.
I’ve labeled some of my wise and benevolent betters as sociopaths and thieves.
Miguel — I’m glad you got out. And that you’re here promoting liberty.
Both this and the tzp article were relayed. Thx for the heads up!
