I am proudly of an Irish heritage… visited Ireland several years ago. My uncle kept carefully researched records of our family. Of all the stories I heard while over there, the most uplifting was this… upon hearing of the horrendous Irish famine, the American Choctaw Indians raised money for relief, and sent corn. The Irish had never seen corn, but figured out what to do with it. The efforts of the Choctaw, who themselves knew famine, saved many Irish lives.

Wow. I’d never heard that before. What an amazing story, Cindylou.
