Midweek links

  • After an eight month paid vacation, the officer who shot Justine Damond has been charged with murder and manslaughter.
  • But for most bad cops, there’s still no fear of being caught.
  • Take happy family photos at the gun range, get suspended from school. Sigh. New Jersey again.
  • Scott Greenfield on those odd income disparities uncovered in a study this week. Yes, the bizarre outcomes are probably a lot more than mere racism.
  • What if some girls just don’t want STEM careers?
  • A VPN you use on your own server, no need to contract with a provider. That would be great. Too bad it’s being developed by an affiliate of one of the country’s most voracious data gobblers.
  • Perhaps not relevant to the accident, but the Uber driver in this week’s death is a felon. Uber’s gotten in trouble for this before. (And yes, I realize how easy it is to become a felon these days, but this is a real felon.)
  • Short video: the moment a shelter dog realizes he’s being adopted.

This is my daughter. She’s a people person and is right in her element now selling cars at Carmax. She’s always had the gift of gab and is a very empathic person. You can tell I think the world of her and lover her to pieces! 🙂

“Sometimes, someone, usually mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result. And that’s not a choice we want Americans to make. So let’s make this happen: By the end of this decade, let’s enroll 6 million children in high-quality preschool, and let’s make sure that we are making America stronger.” – Barack Obama
This part bears repeating: “That’s not a choice we (progressives) want Americans to make.”

Yeah, the kids will be better off in government-run facilities where they’ll be taught right. Parents can’t do that anyway.

Also, that dog needs to get hold of himself or he’ll end up back at the “shelter.” Love the look on its face at the beginning of the clip, though.
