Paperback sales start TOMORROW!

The bad news: Amazon kicked back the paperback file on a technicality.

The good news: The technicality was small, but the rejection gave Kit and me a chance to rethink the release of the printed book.

So. Tomorrow — Wednesday, April 4 — you can place your order for the paperback of Basics of Resistance. Not your pre-order. Your order.

UPDATE: See below.

We’ve been absolutely thrilled by your response. We know a lot of you are awaiting the paperback. Because it’s print-on-demand it’ll probably take longer than a standard Amazon order (how much longer we don’t yet know) and we wanted to make sure you dead-tree loyalists got your copies without delay. As soon as you order, Amazon’s publishing arm will warm up and prepare to deliver.

The Kindle version will still release April 19, with $0.99 pre-orders continuing until then. You Kindle buyers are getting such a deal!

It costs a lot more and takes longer to put a quality trade paperback on a bookshelf. So dear Kindle buyers, please don’t mind if paperback people step in ahead of you. Or if you do mind, you could always become a paperback buyer yourself. Given the unknowns of the print-on-demand process, you might all be getting your books at the same time, anyhow.

—–

When Kit and I were rethinking the paperback release, I tried to persuade her to go for Thursday, April 5 and say the new date was to commemorate the Sugar Act of 1764.

She wasn’t having that. But I still think the Sugar Act is worth recalling as one of the Bad British Deeds that shook the American colonial economy and set the stage for the shattering rebellion against the better-known Stamp Act. So here it is.

It appears you guys already discovered what I learned an hour ago. Yes, the paperback has already gone live on Amazon. They told us it would take “up to 72 hours” after we submitted the file.

So guns have been jumped once again. AND — I can’t believe it — Amazon appears to be promising deliveries much faster than we could have imagined. Live and learn. I’m glad this lesson isn’t a painful one.

Here’s a “Claire link” to the paperback:

If you’re going to share these links anywhere other than the blog or the Cabal, please remove everything from ? on. I could get in trouble if my Associates links appear on sites not registered with Amazon.

Thank you, Cindylou and Comrade X (wow).

fred — While I’m surprised at Amazon’s very high shipping cost, they didn’t put any extraordinary markup on the book. We set that price. It’s very much in line with trade paperback costs on Amazon and it’s lower than prices my old publishers used to charge.

We priced the ebook low as our loss-leader (not really a loss, but not much profit, either). But a paperback is a different matter — and we hope our work is more valuable than $0.99.

I hope it’s possible to eliminate the shipping by ordering even as few as two copies. NOT that I’m expecting everybody to rush out and buy multiples. But it would make a two-copy buy a good deal.

Okay, I see. They just want a $25 minimum order for free shipping. Heh. I thought they’d raised that to $35 sometime back, the raised the free-shipping threshold even higher after that. Placing a $25 order is definitely a reasonable way to save $5 or more in shipping costs.

It’s ordered. Free shipping because I ordered something else which took it over $25. Due 4/9 – 4/13; probably coming separately.

Wow! Mine came to $13.90, total… but I have Amazon Prime(along with 10 extended family members!) You can have as many payment and address options as you need…it works for my family, I could see where it might NOT for others.😬

Well I just received my signed copies of Rebelfire 1.0; Out of the Gray Zone and Hardyville Tales and I am excited. I know what I’ll be doing for the next few days in my time outs.Claire I know you love dogs and I wonder if the one on the cover of …Gray Zone was one of yours?
Thanks also for the heads up on Basics of Resistance, my order is in.Congratulations and salutations Claire you are putting all your hard won knowledge to work and providing something that will stimulate our grey matter and actually cause us to think! 😎

Thank you, Fred M. I hope all the books are to your satisfaction.

As to that dog … The dog described in the story is my Robbie, who died two years ago. The dog painted on the cover was the artist’s interpretation, but not so much Robbie.

We were very lucky in that artist. He’s a nationally known painter and we got his illustrative skills because his girlfriend (a huge JPFO fan) twisted his arm and got him to work at a shockingly low rate. But when he first submitted the cover, his dog looked nothing like the one described. What you see there is a compromise.

Also, Jeremy’s face was never supposed to show because I always intended to let the reader make him whatever race, ethnicity, or appearance they wanted him to be. The artist cast him in shadow as I’d asked, but very clearly made him a Caucasian teenager. So it goes. I still love that cover.

Should’ve waited. Ordered the kindle version already as I thought it was the only option, but there’s just something about holding a REAL book in your hands ya know? EMP proof to boot. Will probably get a paper copy anyway when I have something else to order to take advantage of the free shipping.

    Thank you for your orders.

“BTW is anything happening with TOWR?”

It’s a good question to which I don’t know the answer. TOWR is Kit’s site and since it moved onto the darkweb, I haven’t been keeping frequent track of it. I suspect that Kit might eventually build some trainings based on the book. TOWR would be the logical place to hold them.

As you can imagine, TOWR has been on the back burner as I worked on the book with Claire. I do plan on designing some training based upon the book, in which we’ll go over things like critical info, setting up an OPSEC plan, statement analysis 101, and a few other things. The other guys in TOWR have been similarly beset upon by real life as well but I am REALLY hoping to get some stuff moved forward on it.

We always take suggestions for training or material you want to see; shoot me an email (audax0@protonmail.com) if you have feedback or suggestions.
