Question: Is there a difference between Alzheimer’s and old-age senility?
[…] Living Freedom has Thursday-Friday links […]
I’m not a doctor and don’t even play one on TV, but from what I hear … yes. Or rather, Alzheimers is just one of multiple forms of old-age senility. I think all manifestations of age-related mental decline are being taken more seriously these days, too.
” Is there a difference between Alzheimer’s and old-age senility?”
Yes. Alzheimer’s, is a slowly progressing neurodegenerative disease.
Old age senility is a term used by doctors to dismiss complaints from elderly patients about cognitive impairment or decline. The existence of 100+ year old people with little or no discernible cognitive decline proves that senility is not normal at any age.
Saw a thought provoking movie about Alzheimer’s the other day;

I told my better half if I find her putting frying pans in the fridge she’s in deep dodo!
Huge difference. Alzheimer’s isn’t the only dementia, but it’s one of the nastiest. My father-in-law, a lifelong DIY expert, got to the point where he couldn’t remember which key went to his truck, and couldn’t put together a six-piece puzzle. He forgot how to eat, in that he couldn’t remember to take another bite unless prompted. Before he was 70.
OTOH there’s a frying pan in our refrigerator right now, but it’s got leftovers in it.
And people wonder why Britons voted for Brexit?
I don’t have Silver’s expertise, but the Gold Standard article is, well…
The unexpected result of Triffin’s (or “Hugo’s”) Dilemma, has been the de-industrialization of the US, as the world geared up to undersell all US producers wherever they could do so, in order to obtain the indispensable US Dollars.
Um, no. Foreign producers are luring factories away because of cheap labor and fewer regulations. We, in turn, get to pay less for stuff we want, which is a good thing.
Ever notice that people most worried about “deindustrialization” have never worked in a factory?
A “trade deficit” simply means we’re buying more stuff than we’re selling.
Dang Comrade X,that was one tough movie.
My wife was a typist for a neurologist who was also involved in Alzheimer’s research.
#3 Yet more proof that the Constitution becomes more and more meaningless every day.
“Question: Is there a difference between Alzheimer’s and old-age senility?”
And perhaps the more telling question would be, “Is there a difference between Alzheimer’s and variants of Spongiform Encephalopathy (by many names, from CJD and Kuru to Mad Cow)?
There is significant evidence, over quite a few years now, to suggest that Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and related prion-induced neurodegenerative variants have been routinely MIS-identified as Alzheimer’s (for reasons that range from ignorance and laziness to conspiratorial; prions are notoriously hard to sterilize, and tend to panic hospital staff).
Symptoms are very similar, and the primary difference seems to be that vCJD just kills more rapidly. And if it’s easier to call it “Alzheimer’s” (or just old age, if that fits) — so much the better.
Hi Claire,
“Jesse Kelly says…”
I know many Christians very well, many many more well and by direct association perhaps hundreds well enough to report that just about the entire southern “christian” “Conservative” voting block are in fact socialist…they just don’t know it. The larger groups promulgate enough ridiculous, nothing to do with God public statements to easily back this assertion up.
I’ve only seen one preacher open the Bible and say see here where the people of God openly defied unjust civil authority to the point of it’s ruination. (There is actually quite a rather lot of this in scripture.) Again, the churches are IRS incorporations who are creatures of the State and they get bi-annual letters explaining what they may and may not say under the Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)3.
The American church is dead inside. It’s sad. American Christians aren’t going to fight their guv. They are a kept people who enjoy their comfort and ease. But in fairness to them, nobody has taught them their biblical duty to our Holy Creator to reject and defy unlawful and unjust civil authority. Teaching this might-could also upset some churches apple carts of cash flow contributions. Oh the tangle web when taking on debt and getting into bed with dot guv…
Have a good weekend, hope you get to feeling better.

While I don’t self-describe as “preacher,” progunfred, I can say with assurance you haven’t heard me teach on that. (But you’re welcome any time, and my stuff is on line at markniwot.com, Hebrew Nation Radio, and many other places, as well as live on the Sabbath.)
I did a full study on the Twisting of Romans 13, according to the GIV Bible (that’s “Government-Inspired Version” ) just last week. (In conjunction with, and contrast to, “Korah’s rebellion”.) And ALWAYS point out why our fellowship (not ‘church’) is not a Caesar-licensed State-bless 501c(3) creation of ‘another god’. There ARE lots like us out there, but not on social(ist) media…
