I’m pleased (and rather surprised) to announce that Kit Perez and I have just signed a contract for an audiobook edition of Basics of Resistance.
Tantor Media (Wikipedia entry, Tantor website) approached us and made us a nice, clean offer we had no desire to refuse.
The bad news is that this will be a download edition only, no CD or DVD. The good news is that Tantor is big time in the audiobook field. In addition to reaching our usual market of individual buyers, Tantor goes deep into the library market. And if the download version is a success, a DVD version might follow.
Tantor’s representatives have also been perfectly delightful to deal with. So we’re off to a hopeful start.

I’m also overdue to thank you (you know who you are) for the excellent reviews on Amazon. I generally avoid reading reviews. Kit does read them and gets upset over the one in 20 that’s negative. While the bad ones don’t usually bother me, I never know when one might suddenly stab me in the heart. So after the first couple positive reviews when the book was new, I didn’t look at any again until now, when I linked to the Amazon page. But writers could not have more articulate (and blessedly enthusiastic) readers. So however belated this is … thank you all.
Congrats!!
Outstanding, this will be on my phone for driving listening as soon as it is done. Then maybe a volume II….
Congratulations on a well-deserved deal!

Nicely done Claire.
Excellent!
Way to go! Will you two be doing the voice work?
Thank you all. 🙂
Good question, free.and.true. But nope, we won’t be doing the voice work — or for that matter, have anything to do with the production. They’ll hire a voice pro at their own expense and manage everything.
Brava!! Squared!!
this will be a download edition only, no CD or DVD
Word I’m hearing is that DVD/CDs are obsolescent. My new computer has no drive, nor do most. New car radios are coming with USB ports. Everything is stream-from-the-cloud or download, “portable” being flash drives.
Cool. Do you get to choose whose voice?
“Cool. Do you get to choose whose voice?”
Nope. And I’m good with that. I figure they know more about effective voices than we do. I’m going to enjoy sitting back and not having to work. 😉
Bravo! Kudos! Huzzah! – and similar congratulatory verbiage! Look forward to the Big Reveal! Only regret: I won’t be The Voice. Can you autograph an audiobook?!
