Obama will scale back the drug war

Yeah. IF you just forget the past and vote for him again, oh please, dear trusting core Dem voters, the man who broke Bush-Two’s record for most cannabis-dispensary busts will tame the drug war.

Really. Seriously. I wouldn’t lie to you now, would I?

Is this the most cynical campaign ploy you’ve ever heard? Is it total BS to report this huge stinking pile of campaign coswallop as “news”?

—–

ADDED: Okay, not the most cynical campaign ploy ever. But maybe the most cynical since 2004? Well … if you don’t count the whole “hope and change” thing from 2008 …

I remember the same sort of thing in 2004, when Robert Novak “leaked” the news that Dubya had a secret plan to end the Iraq war right after his reelection. http://sniggle.net/Experiment/index5.php?entry=21Sep04

It seems to me that there were similar secret plans to end the Vietnam war discussed by earnest insiders and credulous reporters during election years back in the day, too.

So, no, it’s not the most cynical campaign ploy I’ve ever heard, but just a remake of a old classic.

……and he lives on the beach, drives a porsche, and well you probably remember the rest of the joke. You can only trust politicians as far as you can throw ’em.

Uh, huh. Shortly after the Irish build a monument to Cromwell.

    It’s just Malibu Stacy redux.

    Look, a new hat!

When the acolytes say–er, testify (let’s call it what it is)–that they’ll follow him to the ends of the earth, it apparently never occurs to them to wonder why the f$ck he’s so hellbent on leading them there.

David Gross … okay. That was so good I had to add your link to the post.

Kevin Wilmeth … Damn. That almost makes me wish I still watched TV.

The left side Statists in particular have done a great job of making the language the dogma. For instance “Hope and Change” really means “Stasis and Decay”, but no matter, the American public love the sound of pretty words and exclude the dirty results as too “negative” for their pretty souls. In times past the words “Scale back” wouldn’t generally be taken to mean “more senseless prosecutions”, but we live in different times.

EN — True. Though the right wing of the carrion bird has done an equally good job polluting the language. Look at all the George W. Bush and Co. did in the name of “freedom.” And look at how much the police and military get away with the moment millions feel obligated to call them all “heroes.”

I regard Bush as left side. It’s more than a matter of a case can be made. He never saw a social program he didn’t like, and never failed to spend way beyond our means. And that’s not even getting into DHS and “act” that spawned it. He didn’t put up Obama numbers, but it was just a matter of time. If he had another term I have no doubt we would have had Bushcare

    Sigh. Of course that’s true.

“Right” and “left” are only differences of rhetorical styles.

I guess we’re kinda lucky that way here in NJ. We “do” have a med marijuana law, but no Jerseyan has ever used marijuana legally. There are 9 or 10 very distinct conditions which qualify for the less than 10% THC medical marijuana the legislature agreed to.

31 months after the law was signed, no patients have been registered, and the first grower only recently began. The Gov and his staff have done everything possible to delay implementation, while those least able to speak for themselves, the ill, continue to suffer.

That was Sept 2010. 2010, just so you know it’s not a typo, and this guy is still waiting
