Amazed. Delighted. So proud.

Something amazing happened this morning. If you read Joel’s blog you already know about it.

The people who did it don’t want their names published. I know who they are, though. They’re long-time readers and supporters of this blog. Long-time encouragers of me. And now big-time heroes to Joel.

And what they did for Joel is simply typical of what they do. I know of many more acts of kindness on their part, some in the freedomista world, some not. They are people who give of themselves, as well as giving of their hard-earned resources. And hard-earned is the word.

So I’m amazed, yet not surprised. Delighted to have been even on the far edge of this wonderful deed. I’m proud — even though I had nothing whatsoever to do with their amazing act (you can’t count two minutes worth of facilitating, which was my entire contribution). I am just so very, very tickled pink and thrilled that Joel’s eyeballs are going to be saved so he can go on living in the desert and describing both its wonders and its eternal prickliness in that inimitable style of his. And so grateful that somebody from “around these parts” made it possible.

I know lots of other readers of this blog have sent contributions and gifts to “Uncle Joel.” I also know that if some of you had more money, you’d have done even more than you already have. I know that every time there’s a need … people hereabouts will fill it.

I know that you “selfish libertarians” and “cold-hearted individualists” are the finest people on this whole blessed planet. So please forgive me for being proud. I’m proud that such great-souled people choose to hang around with me.

As I mentioned over at Joel’s place, every now and then someone seems bound and determined to shake my pessimistic view of people.

Whomever you are, know that there are people you may never meet who admire and respect you, and are encouraged by your example to continue helping others in whatever small way we can. Thank you for demonstrating the good in humanity and helping ensure many more years of musings from the desert hermit of whom we are all so fond.

And as I have found — every now and then someone comes along to affirm the inherent goodness of people. And to put money to good use — for the truly deserving.

I am delighted for Joel. He needs this gift (and this affirmation), as do we all, in this horrible time of fighting to stay in control of our own lives.

Correction on punctuation: “…(and this affirmation, as do we all),…

    Great news! 😀

There are still a lot of good folks in the world, in spite of the baddies.

That’s probably the nicest, most heartwarming news I’ve heard in a long time.

The news made my day when I read it over at TUAK. Isn’t it funny how many people not directly touched by this awesome act of kindness have been benefitted by hearing this news?
