doesdid meet the natural born citizen requirement, but at 17yo, hefallsfell short of the 35 year minimum age threshold. SMOD was born with the Solar System, as if that matters when we’re put out of our electoral misery.@HWFIW: Hey, Obama didn’t meet the eligibility requirements, and neither did Cruz. Why should that stop Harambe? I’m thinking I should write-in Yetta Bronstein. Still, SMOD is high on my list. And what’s with these headlines question what the GOP would do if Trump dropped out? Somebody thinks that actually a possibility? One upside of Trump winning the presidency would be the spectacle of Rance Burgess … err Reince Preibus wetting himself.

I was poking fun at the natural born citizen stuff by noting Harambe was born in the US.
As for the Trump dropping out stuff… I never believed Trump entered the race in a serious attempt to win. I think he did it as a joke, and as he became more popular with fed-up voters he kept upping the outrageous behavior to see how far he could push them.
Do a search for pictures of Trump when his Iowa caucus win was announced. The look on his face was a cost-free cliche: Astounded shock. “Holy crap. They actually voted for me. Now what?”
And what does he do after somehow nailing the nomination? Insults “fellow” party members, lets his Veep-pick endorse the hated Ryan, attacks the family of a war hero…
I still think he might call a news conference and announce, “Psych! Just kidding. Boy, did you guys fall for that one. I’m fired!” and walk off the stage.

Pat — A confession. Assuming you’re referring to the link on the new home page, I actually started that home page five years ago for an entirely different purpose. Some of what I put there then hasn’t yet been re-vetted. Consider that page a work in progress (that I haven’t been able to work on sufficiently because of my limited time).
We’re moving into this new site much faster than planned and some things I’d like to have finished remain unfinished. The fact that we’re up and running this successfully is entirely due to the good work of HWFIW.
I took the political quiz and discovered that Gary Johnson is only wrong 11% of the time. I still won’t v*te, though.

I actually decided to answer that survey, but quit about a third in. Too much, and few of the canned answers fit. Several answers did keep coming up in my “other” comments… NO! None of my business (or anyone else’s). MYOB. And the unspoken, “I won’t.”

It turns out the Comcast privacy article is unreachable via Tor Browser with JavaScript blocked. I suppose that’s fitting.
I took that poll. I agreed with Gary Johnson’s lies 82% of the time and Hilary’s 12%. For me,”Don’t Vote” is the clear winner.

I noticed several campaign signs along the road with the name “Wolfe” on them. I couldn’t get a read on the position or the first name. You haven’t gone mainstream and trying to change the system from within are you?

As for the Steamboat Arabia, I had the pleasure of visiting the Arabia about 15 years ago, and at that time some of the family members who excavated the old boat were doing personal presentations. The old guy who gave the talk I attended told us that they were just treasure hunting amateurs when they finally found the Arabia. It was purely a business proposition to find it and salvage the cargo, which they intended to sell.
But something changed while they were excavating….they had a change of heart and decided the old boat was too important a find to simply part out for money. They reached out to some university archaeologists for preservation assistance. No assistance was given, because the ‘professional’ conservators wanted nothing to do with a treasure hunting bunch of cowboys. Neither was any money made available. So those guys digging in the cornfield decided they they had just enough expertise in heating and cooling (that was one of their day jobs) that they created a system of encasing the artifacts in blocks of ice to prevent their quick decay when exposed to air. Then they figured out how to thaw and dry out the artifacts to minimize the damage, and even came up with a method of stabilizing wood by infusing chemicals that displaced the water in the cells and then hardened, preserving the original look and shape of the wood object. That included large items like the wheel and the transom, both of which are on display.
Funded entirely privately, they created on a relative shoestring one of the most impressive nautical museums in the world, according to to professional historians.
Me, my wife, and my then-8 year old son spent hours and hours wandering through the displays and ogling shoes, clothes, tools, dishes, foodstuffs…and on and on… through various rooms. And at that time they said they had only cleaned up about 1/3 of the cargo I watched a conservator on-site painstakingly separating a glob of rusted nails into individual nails to be shined up like they had just been put into the nail cask. That’s the work they did, privately, without any higher degrees or public funding. They were just a bunch of guys who applied their smarts and their passion to the problem of preserving and sharing their find with the public. They didn’t know they weren’t supposed to be able to do it, which, according to the old man was the reason they did.
I’m not a fan of Kansas City, but this is one cool place.
