Re: Another inconvenient stat to be ignored by professional hoplophobes

This article is lacking in content and is more propaganda than news. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a gun owner and recreational shooter who fights for the rights of ownership on a regular basis, but in reading this I noticed a glaring omission. The issue I have is the author failed to insert a link to the data that supports this claim. The National Safety Council link is for the sale of the 2017 edition of Injury Facts not access to the fact themselves.

One thing I have learned in the fight against gun control is the folks who want to take away your guns will use whatever means they have at hand. We, as advocates for the ownership of firearms, need to be not only doing things better but to be seen to be doing things better.

MJR — You are correct that the link is weak. I should have checked more thoroughly; I’ll now see if I can find the proper stat and include that.

I should really stop linking to TTAG unless I take more time to check their articles and links. They have a history of being a dubious site.

It’s not an easy search, and I’ve not fought it for a few years, but the Center for
Disease Control has all manner of data on firearms accidents and homicides. Listed by male/female and by race.

Farago has built himself I nice little revenue generator there, I guess. I don’t visit there, unless someone links to something that seems really interesting, but even then, I’ve ended up disappointed. He’s made his share of enemies in the world of gunbloggers. Here’s one example. Don’t know if he’s still engaged in the business of plagiarism.

I wonder if a ring of high output infrared LEDs around a plastic license plate frame would “blind” a camera (just leave a white fuzzy image ). Cameras can “see” infrared (an easy way to tell if your remote is working is to point it at your phone camera while pressing each button)…maybe alternate infrared and ultraviolet LEDs. Wire it to come on with the ignition. I wonder if anyone has tried this?

From the Times article: “…the sense that hers was more romantic and more civilized, and that in becoming more liberal and egalitarian we have maybe also sunk a bit toward barbarism.”

I don’t recall that it was the alt-right that raised all the ruckus at Berzerkley.

I don’t recall that it was the alt-right that raised all the ruckus at Berzerkley.
But the alt-right does wish hard for a “return to family values,” involving censorship, posting the Ten Commandments everywhere, “Christian government,” prohibiting abortion and homosexuality and a lot of other sex-things, etc.

humans give each other the credit, thanks, and love
You ever know when something you do makes an impression on someone. Got a call from my youngest daughter a couple of days ago wanting to know the recipe for the chicken skillet stew I made for them when they were growing up.

Okay. Nor was it any of your old-time small-c conservatives, either. Probably a shortage of NeoCons and practicing Christians, as well.

Looks to me as though the Alt-Right is harmless, as long as you don’t vote for any of them.

We were probably better off with Jesus in the schools and condoms in the drugstores and men’s rooms’ machines. Granted that the 10 Commandments create a hostile work environment in court houses. “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not bear false witness”.

I was so baby-faced that I was carded in a booze store at age 35. Talk about a walking target for the chicken-hawk crowd. I got hit on more than the average doorway darlin’ in a red-light disrict. I even was hit on by a Hong Kong fairy on the Hong Kong ferry going from Kowloon to the island. Inculcates a bit of a hostile attitude that I’m still not really beyond.

    The Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn quote by BB is a good one and very true however the big question to be asked by us all; one in which we all have asked in our life’s at one time or another;

    Are we there yet?

It is true that there are bad cops and it is true that wealth transfer is being actively pursued by the powers that be (a big part of which is from future generations) however what we still have going for us today; most cops are not evil and anyone who says otherwise just don’t know a lot of people in law enforcement, just an opinion, but there is no argument that too many are because only one is too many. There are geographical places and alphabet agencies where due to the triangular head of the serpent what remains behind has to follow that lead but that is not the rule (head shape that is) in this country yet from what I have witnessed of it. Another thing still going for us is we are not starving, show me starvation and survival will most likely require some type of revolution whether it be on a personal scale or one that is larger.

IMHO today people mainly are more interested in getting the kids to their next soccer game on time (without getting a ticket of course) than anything that their local cops are doing nor their governments wherever they are located.

I agree with BB “There’s a storm coming”, today I can see it too, just like watching a storm in the distance there’s nothing I can do about it and how fast it approaches I have no control over; all I can do is prepared me & mine for its arrival whether that’s today or in a future generation.

Yes! INFRARED LED’s (‘Light Emiting Diodes’) are the ticket to protect against an undeserved ticket. There are a number of DYI projects for both vehicle and personal privacy (I apologize for multiple links; please don’t ban me!):
