Bob Owens of BearingArms.com is dead. Apparently by suicide at age 46. No doubt the antis will gleeful make hay out of his death by gunshot.
Owens wasn’t a favorite of us gun-rights purists. He was notorious for a particular “blame the gun” editorial in the L.A. Times that could have been written by a hardcore Bloombergian. Or a Quisling. I suppose now it would be an ungracious, arrogant understatement to assume the guy had issues. Good guy? Bad buy? Good guy, but? I don’t know. Still. Crappy fate. He had young family, too.

Bob went to the same University as me in NC however a few decades later.
I would also like to give credit to Bob for turning me on to the Appleseed Project (an excellent organization for getting young shooters familiar with long guns and also American History at the same time).
I became aware of Bob when he had his own Blog before he went to work for BA, BA was a paying gig for him and he needed the income badly as he indicated when he took on that job.
I quite reading his articles when he started writing articles like “blame the gun”, I will not say he was a bad guy but I would say I disagreed with him strongly on many of his point of views, I did always wonder if he was just following the directions from whence he got his paycheck which still does not in my book forgive him.
However I hope he does RIP.
Regardless of how Owens may have kowtowed to the establishment, no one is immune or exempt from its revenge for one’s prior misdeeds. So, I have to ask, “Was he ‘Suicided’?”

The CIA is reputed to have said anyone can commit a homicide but it takes experts to commit a suicide…
I’ll miss Bob. He wasn’t perfect, but none of us are. I can’t imagine what his family are going through. Losing a loved one so young is terrible, but to bear the venomous hatred of those who want to dance on his grave is even worse, I think. In their shoes, I think I would “go dark” — stay away from social media, change the phone number, etc.
I pray for them and hope that they are able to get through this.
