- Yet another cowardly, too-quick-on-the-trigger cop shoots dogs in their owner’s fenced backward. On video. Both dogs survived the vicious attack, though one is still touch-and-go. A GoFundMe appeal for their vet care was fully funded in less than a day.

- You remember when depression was the national plague (and desperately had to be treated with drugs)? Remember when ADD and its variations was the national plague (and desperately had to …)? Remember when ….? Well, get ready to hear all about how anxiety is our big national problem. To its credit, the article does talk about non-drug ways to reduce anxiety.

If you spot any goofs here, that’s because it’s very hard to blog while being repeatedly called out to fetch a winch or inspect a termite infestation.

That’s Little Bear, who’s never chased a stick in his entire life – but who might dislocate your shoulder going after a squirrel.
My cat fetches like that too.
Jury awards 1.26 million to the family of a dog murdered by police:

I applaud the jury award, but the article doesn’t name the police officer involved and doesn’t indicate which party is on the hook for the 1.26 million
jc2k — I hadn’t heard about that even though it seems to have happened a couple of months ago. Good for that jury! It’s too bad that taxpayers, rather than the violent cop individually, will have to pay.
Still, a few more judgments like that and jurisdictions will have to start either training cops to deal properly with dogs or hiring cops that are better human beings.

A few years ago a friend of mine tried to join the police force. She’s intelligent, a professional body-builder, trained in 3 different martial arts, owns dogs, has passed federal background checks on more than one occasion, and has the air of authority to corral her 3 rambunctious boys with just a word.
They wouldn’t let her in.

I don’t know what the entrance exams are screening for, but it’s not skill, aptitude, or decency. That’s for sure.
