Yeah, I made my own version (posted on Facebook) and replaced “your” with “the”. Just couldn’t stomach the original version.

Um. This is the correct usage of ‘your’. It should not be “you’re” as it cannot be substituted with ‘you are”. So the ‘sic’ is unnecessary.

Helena — Thank you. Perhaps I should have explained the “(sic).” I know it’s usually used to note bad grammar or a misspelling. But in this case, I was rejecting the idea that a government (especially a terrible one like Egypt’s) is “yours” or “ours.” Kent was doing the same when he changed the wording from “your” to “the.” Just a way of saying that abusive governments belong to the power-mongering insiders, not the people.

Got it. 🙂

Hmmm, I read it:
Your sick government… But then, I tend to put adjectives in all sorts of places. 🙂
And I do object to any hint that it is “my” government, of course.
It isn’t.
How about: If the sick government shuts down the internet…
:):):)

“How about: If the sick government shuts down the internet…”,
That’s the way I read it, too, ML. 🙂
In any case: “shut down the sick government.” Today in many lands, the Pharoah is dead – long live V.

A shutdown of our officious, overreaching, increasingly Authoritarian, soft Tyrrany government at all levels has needed to be shut down, and have the corrupted operating system reinstalled and be rebooted for some time now- some say since Dark Lord Obama ascended to power, some since W and his Homeland Security enforcers of stasis, some since Slick Willie and his minions came to rule, some since FDR, and some way before that. Whatever time a shutdown and OS reinstall and reboot was first needed, it is way past time for it. Take it back ! Molon Labe !

Nah, don’t reboot… haul it to the dump and get a whole new operating system… one without all the nannies and backdoors – meaning without politicians and bureaucrats of ANY kind.
