Since you guys were so charming yesterday when I posted that photo of my dog teapot (or “Spot Pot,” as Jake MacGregor dubbed it), I thought I’d also confess that I got this at a garage sale two weeks ago:
Yes, it’s embarrassing. And you’re right; I’m going to fill my house up with junk and become one of those people who gets killed by falling stacks of … well, in this case, teapots.
I put the two together and they were very cute.
Unfortunately, things really didn’t work out …

Oh, the felinity!
You have better taste than me. I would have made the tacky teapot madness work out a lot more… risqué, for lack of a better word.
Sorry, but I have to call BS on the Switch bulb.
Every one of these new bulbs, every one without exception, are grotesquely expensive. If you know how to calculate the time value of money, every one of these BS con jobs is a horrible investment. Spending $20 now to save $1.43 twenty years from now is a stupid investment, the kind of thing only brain-dead government school product would contemplate without rambunctious skepticism.
I love the BS math: “The Switch bulb also has an average lifespan of 20,000 hours—20 years.” First that is a promise, aka a damned lie. We’ve been testing other “long life” CFL BS products, and they last about 1/8 as long as they claim. Second, 20,000 hours is just over 2 years, not 20.
Go to lightbulbsdirect.com for real light bulbs. You can still buy 60 watt bulbs for $0.42 each when you buy a case of 24. They last an honest 1,500 hours. You can get honest 20,000 hour incandescent bulbs for $2.18. That’s 1/10 the price of the Switch BS alternative.
Do the math. Read the help for Excels NPV function. Nothing comes close to the incandescent bulb for economy, quality of light, and minimal environmental footprint.
The toxin-filled, obscenely expensive alternatives are being rammed down our throats because mega corps like GE can do the math. It’s much more profitable for them to sell $20 bulbs to simpletons than $0.42 bulbs to people who can run a calculator. The market rejected their trash so they use government force to kill the competition.
I won’t spend a dime on Switch or any of their criminal compatriots. I’ve bought a lifetime supply of cheap, reliable, warm, safe incandescent bulbs, and I urge every freedom-minded person to do likewise. Don’t let yourself be railroaded by lies, more lies, and government thugs.
bad spot! (but oh so funny :>) )
Well, really! What did you expect? You’re not a cat person. Dogs know things like that.
Nice doggie…
Wait…did you just put ketchup or bbq sauce in your TEAPOT???? So it’s not a teapot, it’s a sauce pot???
LOL….
I’m not sure which is scarier: your sense of humor or the fact that I giggled out loud when I saw it…..
Heehee! You definitely brightened my morning!
That last shot is very, very wrong, Claire.
So naturally I laughed uproariously.
(I wouldn’t dare show it to my Emma Dog, not because it might give her ideas, but because she is subordinate to the cats and it would shock her rigidly hierarchical sensibilities.)
I like and I use the CFL bulbs. However, I made the choice on my own, for reasons of my own. The government and environmentalists did not forc me into it. Actually an article from a Backwoosdhom contributor convinced me to give them a long term try. I might try out some of the LEDs soon to see if I like them. The CFL do not last anywhere near as long as claimed. They do last much longer than my incandescents though. I also stock pile incandescants, they are far superior to CFL for many applications.
LED Light bulb – I have been looking for a suitable replacement for the CFLs that I have been using. Only one thing to say about what I have learned. While the up front cost is higher the longevity is better so the ROI looks good. However it is the up front cost that is the problem. I am holding off until the cost per unit is more in line with my meager stocks of cash.
About the cat teapot… Looked real good until that murdering dog teapot go jealous. ;~>) Great collection you have started BTW.
Boiling Frog Alert indeed. Here is another piece of s*Y^ coming up for consideration by Congress.
Congress is so broke, it want your help to pay down the debt. Nevermind the fact it cannot be paid down by now.

Should I invest in Tar and Feathers companies?
I read not long ago that Steven Tyler caused a feather shortage…not that there aren’t other kinds of feathers to start collecting, anyway…….either way, both tar and feathers collecting will bring out the environmental police & they’ll probably come and confiscate anyone’s supplies (as deemed by the gov’s preemptive attempts to avoid it being used on them)…soon it will be surely impossible to even find tar and feathers companies…..
🙂
Apart from the convoluted law itself, how long will it take before “voluntary” becomes coersive?
Never mind about the tar and feathers — stock up on ammo.
LOL At my house the cat would have won. The only person or animal that can touch the cat without HER permission is Hubby!
I bought a bulb similar to the Switch(might be the Switch-I don’t remember the manufacturer) to experiment with-it is about as bright-and the same color-as a 40 watt incandescent bulb(I don’t remember the manufacturer-it looks similar to the one in the photo, except mine has a frosted bulb and gray finned base). I could’ve bought 32 40 watt incandescents(can get’em four fer a buck) for what I gave for it..but it’s just something to experiment with. According to the instructions, at three hours a day, it’ll last 22 years. I got it at Lowe’s($7.99). It’s currently on a timer, for three hours a day, 9:00 P.M. to Midnight.
The electric company gives away CFLs-four a year. I haven’t bought any in three or four year(well, I have..just sort of indirectly),and usually after an electrical storm, I lose one or two.
I use incandescents when judging color is important.
