- What happens when a corporation gets just a bit too uppity in its definition of IP.
- I suppose as times get harder, we can expect more of this sort of thing. Shudder.
- But if it can be made harder on the forces of tyranny … (Some notes on guerrilla warfare)
- “Complex Systems, Dysfunctional Industries, and Catastrophic Collapse.”
- Preparedness. Basic.
- Fascinating. They haven’t found the suspect, two decades later. But they’ve found his seventeenth century ancestor.
- Yeah. Right. According to this I’m supposed to go to either Switzerland … or the U.S. How about you?
- Good going. Excellent calm way to challenge a cop who thinks the law doesn’t apply to him.
- Have you ever seen — even once in your life — anybody in the media ask ask a question like this about any candidate other than Ron Paul? After spending months reporting around Paul (“Candidate Fatass came in first in the poll, while Candidate Bigmouth was third …”) it’s about time he’s getting “too much attention.”
- Just so you’ll know what your masters have in store for you. And how judiciously they’ll use it, of course.
- Snort. Chortle.
- Inhale.

Switzerland, eh?
You mentioned a while ago that you might want to move countries.
Let’s face it, even if you quadrupled the problems you guys currently have, you’d still be the most free country in the world.
I have a number of friends who left here (South Africa) for what we jokingly call “the ANC countries” — Australia, New Zealand, Canada — and also the US. Some of them are back, some of them are close to getting US citizenship (ten years, they tell me). Of all those, I’ve only contemplated the USA, because guns are important to me.
Here, I have plenty guns. I also have national ID (can’t pick up a parcel at the post office without it), fingerprints on record (for ID and also for gun licences), licenced guns (one licence per gun) — all things that you’d probably find it difficult to live with π
And so it goes, I suspect, with every country out there. It might be better in some aspect, but on average, you live in the best place on earth.
And more importantly, you understand how your system works. That, primarily, is what makes people return to their home country.
On the snort/chortle thing – Immagine an unholy alliance between our gov and the major virusware companies that allows a government Trojan to be passed over, not found or flagged. It could become the gov’s special window into the people.
D.
Switzerland and Hong Kong. All I need is a bit of cash. Perhaps someone here could see it in their hearts to give me $20mil?
I loved the article on the wolf because it’s so typically full of shit. Predators are predators. This line was the most fun for me.
“in fact fewer sheep, cows and calves are killed by wolves than by mountain lions, coyotes or bears, Stopher said.”
No kidding? Does that make wolves less lethal… or does the fact that they’ve been removed from the “ecosystem” (means a place where state biologists get paid for God knows what) have anything to do with it? Semi-inquiring minds don’t really want to know. As for their protected status, that’s nothing but a Statist illusion. California outlawed hunting Mountain lions about 15 years ago. So they aren’t hunted any longer… mostly they are just shot. I’ve had some experience with the levels of blindness (you can’t make them see) or downright deceit used by state biologists to deny that a cougar kill is a cougar kill (cattle mutilations, don’t you know?). Dogs can be dangerous in packs for sure, but seeing as how every single human being within five miles of me has at least one dog (except me) this might not rise to the level of destruction that a pack of five wolves turned lose in my area would do. And one last note to anger my friends, the state owned wild life biologist. My Grandmother, a lady raised in Northern Minnesota who knew a lot about wolves from personal experience and was legendary for her impatience (which she may have passed along to me) used to say that she would always trust a fairy tale over theory. And when it comes to wolves theory is mostly what we have. Wolves don’t exist side by side with man… not for long at least. Of course stupid people who lived with wolves for thousands of years couldn’t possibly know as much as a present day liberally educated, state owned, (semi) wildlife biologist.
EN — Yeah, that’s kinda what I thought when Switzerland came up. Wonderful place — for the Swiss or the wealthy. But get real! Hong Kong’s pretty much the same deal — only it’s all city, which is even worse. Not to mention it’s in China. Yikes!
But on wolves … What article are you talking about? Clearly something hit you where you live and provoked a world-class rant, but I don’t remember linking to an article about wolves.
WTH! Well… I swear it was a link on your page??? Are you messing’ with me? Or have I finally arrived at that very special place? Uh… Well… Never mind…
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/01/11/MNPR1ML09K.DTL&type=science
I don’t know why or how but forgive me.
EN — Never! It’s unforgivable. … Whatever the heck it is you’re asking to be forgiven for.
Seriously … I can guess that you got to the wolf article by following links from the “inhale” article I included in “Wednesday Links.” Your rant was quite interesting and obviously written from the voice of experience, so unless you want me to remove it, I’m perfectly happy to have it and your followup link here.
Hmmmm, was I married to you at one time? I’ve seen this no forgiveness policy before. I don’t mind if you leave it up. Reading over it I like it. I should read my stuff more often.
I hope they find the dirtbag who raped and killed that girl that they have the DNA on.
What is weird is that my maternal ancesters came to this country in the 1630s and lived in Salam, MA where his ancesters lived. My ancesters probably knew or knew of his.
Chile is where I am told to find what I want … interesting as it keeps coming into my view, more and more, the last couple of years.
