The End of the American Dream recently took apart two of the FBI’s infamous “look for a terrorist under every bed” brochures. You know, the ones that tell members of different professions whom they should report to the fedgov. In this case, one is a literal “look under the bed,” since the brochure in question addresses all us EEEEEvil terrorists who might be checking into hotels and motels.
But as frequent-contributor MJR discovered, all manner of professions get their own terrorist-hunting help from the fibbies. (The differences and similarities between the flyers are fascinating.)
Among other things, tattoo artists — yes tattoo artists! — are advised to suspect (in what has become the FBI’s standard tortured style of English) “People or Groups Who Make repeated returns with multiple individuals requesting identical tattoos.”
Hey, in that case I know nine Dreaded Terrorists who need to be slammed into Gitmo right away! And I’m sure they’re terrorists because in addition to requesting identical tattoos, they’ve also all used multiple aliases (another Sure Sign). At the time they got their suspicious tats, they were going by the aliases Frodo, Samwise, Galdalf, Legolas, Merry, Pippin, Boromir, Gimli, and — the multiple-aliasing obvious EEEEEvil mastermind, Aragorn, aka Strider, aka The Dunedan, aka Longshanks, Wingfoot, Telcontar, Elfstone, and Thorongil.
The Fatherland (Achtung!) is clearly in danger as long as they — and we! — remain on the loose.
And don’t imagine I’m joking. The Fellowship of the Ring really were terrorists, at least from Sauron’s point of view. They wanted to overthrow the government of Mordor, didn’t they? And they hoped to achieve it via a highly destructive sneak attack into the heartland of that realm.
And we. Well, the evidence against us has been overwhelming for some time.

I love the Lord of the Rings connection. I just finished reading the series (again), and really, our government looks more like Mordor every day.
Brian- Not MY government. Which is me. Other than that I have no government. Which makes me one of those sovereigns that the FBI is so concerned about since we understand that we are above the government. (And, really now, who isn’t?)
Brian — yeah, that all-surveilling eye is becoming a more apt metaphor every day, isn’t it? And I’ll bet anybody here could come up with at least half a dozen other resemblances.
I’m getting really fed up with this hijacking of perfectly good words…
Have not used “anarchist” for years because it got so polluted with commie connotations, and now they’ve just about wrecked the possibility of using “sovereign” for anything but nostalgia.
I’ve been an INDIVIDUAL SOVEREIGN for nearly as long as I’ve been alive. So far, I have not found a better description… even though the pool of people who actually understand it is small. Guess I just go on trying to explain what I mean…
NO king
NO ruler
NO “leader”
NO “laws” except non-aggression
The Fellowship of the Ring, did celebrate diversity though. Nice mixture of races etc.
The saddest part is that the smartest terrorists will realize that they no longer need to attack the U.S. We are doing a fine job of destroying the country by ourselves, without them lifting a finger to do it.
The government doesn’t realize that sneak attackers don’t warn anybody beforehand, that’s why they’re called sneak attacks. Duh!
I don’t want to overthrow anything. Certainly not by violence. I chose the route of undermining the totalitarian State (all States) with ideas. The Truth. The State’s very foundation is popular support. It utterly depends on a bunch of people believing that some people somehow have more of a right to use violence than other human beings.
We need to undermine the idea that individuals who work in the State have an alternate moral universe where it’s OK for them to use violence against non-violent people, where such violence would rightly get anyone else thrown into a cage.
You may be pleased to learn (or already know) that Tolkien himself was nearly (and perhaps avowedly) an anarchist.
http://www.e-reading.org.ua/bookreader.php/139008/The_Letters_of_J.R.R.Tolkien.pdf Letter 52. It is a great letter.
Although I disagree with his enthusiasm regarding unfortunate actions taken against private property, and I’ll wager that he was being a tad macabre and not serious himself when it came to that bit, as he wasn’t serious as the “execution” bit.
Brass — No, I didn’t really know that about Tolkein! And I agree, letter 52 was great. Could’ve been written by somebody hereabouts. That’s fantastic …
How did Americans become such a scared people, as to cede all control to government?
This certainly is not the same people who carved a country out of wilderness.
Latigo, I think at least part of it is the fact that most people want to make a better world for their children. I grew up listening to the stories of the depression, and other hard times in this country. These folks were sold a bill of goods, of course, and over they years gradually traded the false prosperity and security they were promised for their freedom and self responsibility.
Some probably accepted it knowingly, but I don’t think most of them really understood what they were doing to harm future generations. I’m sure they thought they were doing good for their children, as we all do. Just turns out they were wrong.
Latigo: most Americans have no concept of “wilderness” anymore, the closest millions of them get is the concrete jungle.
I think self-reliance changes people. It satisfies an urge that lies so deep it’s never named. Now that people can spend their whole lives within a few city blocks, there’s a part of them that’s stagnating. It’s dying and they can feel it, but they don’t know what it is they’re feeling so they try to fill it in with money or violence or drugs or power or busyness or shopping or whining or sex or TV or . . .
People nowadays spend 95% of their time, money, and energy trying to distract themselves from themselves.
Has everyone been made aware of this yet?

Wow, what a smear job that article is.

West Memphis Police Chief Bob Paudert claims to have never heard of Sovereign Citizens…how the hell do you get to be top dog in the cop shop without ever hearing about a movement that has been around for hundreds of years? We’re calling major cow patty bs.
Bob Hurt had this to say:

Ever wonder why you are required to get a drivers license even to buzz around on a moped but you can fly an ultralight aircraft with nothing, not even clothing if that’s the way you roll…er um fly…hehehe!
Fred Reed says Fly and Skydive Nekkid!
Wouldn’t it be so awesome if you could get everyone flying anywhere in the country to dress like they were going to the beach…they could always put normal clothes on after going through the checkpoints…hahaha!
