Just got word! Twenty patrons now and $122 a month in pledges. Second goal met. So it’s official. I really am going to have to get on with writing that story. Soon. (And get on with writing several more thank you notes! As well as one more Patreon goal.) Even if the promised story is exclusive to the patrons for now, this whole thing has got me stirred into into thinking in a way I haven’t in years. Thinking books. Old books. Books to be revised. New ways to get those old books back out there. And (could it be?)…
Well. That was quick. On Monday I wrote that suddenly I was living above my means and would commence cutting and selling. I asked if I should open a Patreon account solely to keep ‘Net access going and pay hosting costs on the blog and Claire’s Cabal. “Yes,” you said. On Wednesday I created that Patreon account. Subscriptions quickly approached my $60 a month goal. Patreon likes multiple goals. So what the heck. I created a $120 a month goal level, adding a performance promise. I figured keeping that promise would would quite a ways in the future. By this…
Gun blogger Erin Palette was mauled by a 90-pound dog. In her face. The dog nearly severed her lips. The GoFundMe established by her friend Matthew House has more than met its goals, but it sounds as if there could be unexpected medical expenses ahead and a long rehabilitation. Oleg Volk is offering a wonderful incentive to larger donors. (H/T LN for the heads-up and for all three links)
Just got home from a day away. I learned that the Paladin Press close-out sale started last night. Fifty-five percent off on everything. They’re apparently going gangbusters. For those interested in my books, last I heard they had 53 copies of The Freedom Outlaws Handbook and 25 of The Bad Attitude Guide to Good Citizenship. I decided not to use my author’s prerogative to buy any of those copies. I have zero of either book. So if you want the originals, get ’em while you can from Paladin. At some point, I’ll likely be republishing TFOH with the help of…
I tell ya, it wasn’t easy. Only one of my four browsers would allow me to set up the account — and the one that FINALLY allowed me to perform a full account setup won’t actually let me look at my own page. (Browser security; sometimes it’s a nuisance.) The browser that most adamantly refused to let me do the account setup lets me look at my page just fine. Go figure. Anyhow … here’s my new Patreon page. To subscribe, you need to have a Patreon account (which doesn’t appear to require anything too onerous or privacy-wrecking), and then…
Yesterday was one of those days. If I wasn’t spilling something I was knocking something over. If I wasn’t knocking something over I was stepping in something and tracking it onto the rug before I realized what I was carrying (thank you, neighbors’ unfenced dogs). If it wasn’t me breaking something, tracking something, or spilling something, it was Ava or the cat. By the time afternoon walkies came around, I feared leaving the house lest a tree fall on me. Then I decided if I stayed in, a tree might fall on me. So Ava and I headed for the…
