The victim in question was hoping this story wouldn’t get out. And I was hoping to get more information on what Travis Corcoran actually said on his blog — not just the out-of-context quotes the media chose so carefully — before running with it. (ADDED: See comments section for a link to a screen capture of the blog page; Corcoran has taken the blog down.)
But since the story is well and truly out, and since a friend of Travis’ posted in an earlier comment section, I can only second what Joel has to say.
A lot of commentors on this mainstream media article have it right, also. However dangerous it is to speak your mind about politicians in these strange days, there’s no evidence Travis Corcoran ever threatened anybody. In fact, seems as if he was trying to reduce the threat to the innocent.
Tell me again … Why the heck does anyone still live in Massachusetts?

So where is the exact offending blog post? So we can read it and make up our own minds. Oh, wait, that seems to answer itself these days, doesn’t it.

Claire,
People still live in Massachusetts because it is the cradle of the American Revolution and birthplace of liberty…don’t you know?
hahaa!
Clearly self-defense, free speech, etc. are Privileges that can be taken away when ever someone misbehaves.
You know, drunk driving, yelling at your spouse, criticizing your overlords, are all valid reasons to spank your slaves, I mean citizens.
The term ‘Rights’ should be disapeared from the vernacular and replaced with ‘Starboards.’
“1 Down, 434 to go”
That’s not a threat…it’s a statement. Big difference between “Somebody should ____” and “I’m going to ____”
But that’s what you get for living in a state that requires a license to exercise your rights.
Hope he gets this straightened out…
But that’s what you get for living in a state that requires a license to exercise your rights.
Don’t be naive: this could have happened anywhere. The only thing unique to Mass is the ‘we can revoke your permit at whim of the Chief’ deal.
