I’m sure I’m in the very, very minority but my reaction so far this morning is sadness. OBL may have been a bad guy, but his death wasn’t “justice”, it was a cold revenge killing. He may have been the worst person on the earth, but I firmly believe in “innocent until proven guity” and am against “an eye for an eye”. He wouldn’t have been able to get a fair trial here in the US, so now sure what should have happened but I can’t condone revenge.

I’m really sickened with the comments around the net now and “our” country. Even if someone it attacking someone and dies because that other person acted in self defense, I wouldn’t rejoice in the death.

Something the news in the US is not telling people – Pakistan was not informed that the US was about to conduct operations in its Capital City. That the building UBL was killed in was just two km from the Pakistan equivalent of West Point, that UBL’s defenders shot up one of our helicopters and it had to be left behind, and that after getting UBL the US troops left under heavy fire.

I have posted several questions on different forums asking this same question or variations like “Can we have our civil liberties back now?” or “Now will Obama stop fighting the repeal of the Patriot Act?”

Just doing my part to be a subversive ghost/mole.

It only brings “closure” to this already-long-dead-boogeyman. TPTB have come to the realization that they don’t need him, anymore. The sheeple will accept ANY lame excuse to continue perpetual war. Also, it helps their man with his re-election chances (at a time when his ratings were at a record low). Double-plus-good…

Yeah, the guy who was very sick and hasn’t been seen in public for years was suddenly killed just after Obama announced his run for re-election. But the body wasn’t displayed. It wasn’t buried where it can be found, and identity confirmed. It was supposedly dumped at sea at an undisclosed location.

Killed. Not captured for a great PR trial. Not captured for his intel value.

Obama & Company needed a distraction from the bungled birth certificate debacle so it was a good time to thaw the leftovers- but to dump them in the sea? Maybe to hide the effects of freezing in case anyone wanted to examine things too closely. That’s IF there were ever even a body… Sorry, I’m not usually that fond of conspiracy theories, but in this case I think it’s all too clear.

They thawed out the corpse, shot him in the head, and took a pic, and dumped him at sea. Nothing to see here! Move on. And NO CLAIRE, we can’t go home now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kent — I’m with you in trying to avoid conspiracy theories. But it’s definitely mega-strange that the administration would choose a Seal raid rather than a bombing specifically to preserve the body — then quickly dump said body into the ocean.

The claim that they didn’t want Bin Laden’s grave to become a pilgrimage site and rallying point makes sense. The claim that it would have been hard to find a country to take the remains makes less sense. But dumping the body in the ocean without first giving convincing evidence it’s really Bin Laden’s? Strange.

DrillSgtK — Good on you. What sort of responses have you been getting? I notice that the MSM is asking none of those questions. On the contrary, their cant seems to be that “this increases the danger of a terrorist attack.”

It is somehow ironic that people that don’t trust the government to tell them what time it is, is taking this announcement hook, line and sinker. I do question the timing.

OBL was the causus belli to destroy two countries and topple their governments. It also destroyed the economies of at least three countries. OBL was the reason to kill tens of thousands of peoples and cause billions of dollars to be given to the defense industry. Should of renamed him patsy.

The timing of the “raid” and killing of OBL might not be about sagging poll numbers and a presidential reelection directly. It might really be about setting the stage for more “terrorist” attacks to further justify oppression of civil rights and dissenters just before the 2012 elections. Might be getting ready to build to a police state in time to put those elections on hold.

    Keep your powder dry.

I really want to beleive this and celebrate that there’s one less goat molesting coward in the world but it’s starting to get fishy…damn.

Either way, Obama needs to send George W. a gift basket or something.

Oh, I don’t think any of this was strange at all.

If I had to offer up a singular opinion on the “why cash in this chip now?” question, it would probably be the potential harm that the Gunwalker still-not-yet-scandal might do, but 1) that could still quite easily vanish without a trace (hard as it may seem to believe for anyone who’s been following it), and of course 2) there won’t be a single answer in the first place, since there are always embarrassing irons in the fire that need some, er, “good” PR.

    My take.

Mac’s “declared dead on May 1 also” reference made me giggle. Primarily because: who knows if it means anything? With all the dirt and baggage that the FedGov carries around, who’s to say that any day of the year might not have carried some sort of similar match? Hell, it just might have been random! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m in agreement with Matt and Mark…..further – my one and only strongest reaction to this was shock at seeing how many people blindly just accepted this news; took the word “sheeple” to a whole new level – and a scary one, very scary……

I honestly thought: that if the “leaders” told people they had to enter Building X for “their own safety” they’d line up WILLINGLY….yes, that’s meant to sound eerily familiar, yet so much worse due to the acceptance factor, to it’s German historical counterpart…..

The word manipulation comes to mind, but then it is a government induced situation, the two seem to go hand in hand…..And I gotta wonder if he was late to announce it because he was calling everyone in the world, not to inform them, but to get the story straight and stick to the scripted facts…..

I don’t have sadness for UBL….just the sheeple in the world…..and maybe for myself, that I’ve come to this point of thinking like this……

2012 elections. Osama is merely another tool, useful for applying pressure to the populace. Obama is hoping this puts him over the top, so he’ll be unbeatable for a second term, and being a final term, he doesn’t have to worry about how we’ll take all the nifty abuse he probably has planned.

  16. cctyker
    cctyker May 2, 2011 9:32 pm

Osama is constantly accused of the twin towers destruction. Has he ever been formally charged with any crime committed on US property or person?

Or has the propaganda been repeated so many times the US lemmings “think” the government killed him?

Why would anyone believe the US government that Bin Laden is dead? No body — no proof. How convenient.

The guy who got killed was probably some rich Pakistani who had body guards defending him. Oops, wrong guy, let’s put him in the sea to hide our screw up.

It’s all dam disgusting to me.

Hmmm, I wonder? Was Pakistan annexed into LA County or something? Last I knew it was a sovereign nation and yet we just helicopulated right into their front yard and proceeded to shoot the sh*t out of everything?

Oh wait, maybe it was annexed onto the east coast near DC? Anyway, what the hell is this nation doing ignoring the sovereignty of the rest of the world?

Putting my tinfoil hat back on and hiding my head in the sand now.

When you ask if this means we can have our civil liberties back it gets ignored or creates a moment of awkward silence. Worse many people are coming back with “see, water boarding works”. not seeing any positive from my posts. ๐Ÿ™
