Solyndra being raided by FBI (right now)

Heh. It’s a pretty good guess Obama won’t be touting those millions of “green jobs” in his big (nothing of a) speech tonight.

Could this be the beginning of Obama’s Watergate?

Project Gunwalker should have been his Watergate — and for that matter, his Waterloo. But financial and electoral corruption is a little easier for the MSM to get behind.

Not that I’d wish an FBI raid on my worst enemy. But this could get interesting …

Those in charge with Project Gunwalker should have been prosecuted not promoted and it looks like green Jobs is a code word for line my pockets and I’ll line yours.

It is absolutely astonishing what we allow our elected officials to get away with.

Personally, I think Holder, Melson, Newell et al should be extradited to Mexico to be prosecuted there.

RE: Solyndra- Basic Administration damage control. That one has gotten enough bad press that Barry & Buds have to show that it wasn’t really their fault; “the nasty people at Solyndra did bad things after we we were so generous and tried to make jobs, but we’re fixing it now”.

    Claire,
Have you heard of the Union actions going on out your way?

The OBAMA Union thugs will get things started – then the race based gangs will enter in and all hell will let loose. I do hope folks are not only armed and ready but that they understand the severity of what is going to take place in order for The FRAUD to remain in office. This is that HOPE & CHANGE in action… spurred on with the YES WE CAN chant.

Possible wildcat Longshoremen strike reported in Seattle, Tacoma
    Story

By The Associated Press | Posted: Thursday, September 8, 2011 9:31 am | No Comments Posted

SEATTLE The Longshoremen’s international union is investigating reports of a wildcat strike at the ports of Seattle and Tacoma.

ILWU spokesman Craig Merrilees says union officials are trying to sort out what is happening at the two Washington ports and were not sure on Thursday morning if the strike is related to union activity in Longview.

Longview police say hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute.

The spokesman at union headquarters in San Francisco says it appears Longshoremen in Seatlte and Tacoma have taken action on their own. Merrilees did not know how many workers are involved and to what extent the apparent wildcat action has spread.

Jackie, I heard about the thuggery going on in Longview, Washington. Scary and strange. Longview isn’t exactly Detroit or Chicago. It’s just a dead berg that’s lucky to have any little port at all in a part of the world where anybody with a job feels lucky. Something suspicious about such violent agitation erupting there of all places. Hadn’t heard about possibly related violence in Tacoma or Seattle

Carl-Bear, I fear you’re right on Solyndra. I kept thinking about why Obama’s FBI would go after Obama’s favorite bankrupt company. Your scenario seems a lot more likely than an honest (if there is any such thing) investigation of political corruption. And yeah … nice fantasy on Holder and company getting what they deserve.

There was a newsblurb about Solyndra on when my clock radio went off this morning-short-short version is it was riddled with problems from the word “go”” and got worse. From what I gathered, they were going to make the solar cells themselves-an expensive tooling up proposition, and try to compete against existing manufacturers..unless they had some sort of better-cheaper-more amps per square meter solar cell, anyone on the street could’ve told them it was a bad idea.

Scott, as I heard it, pretty much everyone in the market DID tell ’em it was a bad idea, hence going to the feds for the moola.

Yes. What I heard is that they were spending $6 per unit (not sure what was meant by “unit” in the article I read, but I assume per unit meant “per watt” of solar cells) to produce product. Then trying to sell for $3 per “unit.” When the market is already below $2.

If so, it was indeed an obvious no-win and a stinking political deal from the outset.

bumperwack — Hey, I know it’s just spare change these days, but I do believe you meant half a B-b-billion (as in Sagan units), not half a million.

Yeah, I’m just being petty, I know. It’s not like we’re talking about serious amounts of money …

“A billion here, a billion there; pretty soon we’re talking about r/e/a/l/ Monopoly(tm) money.”*
*Revised to reflect the realities of FED play money inflation.

At this rate, we may be able to get discounts from the IRS for paying in Monopoly currency.

Here’s another view of what’s happening in Longview (don’t know about Tacoma and Seattle):

    http://www.businessinsider.com/longview-longshoremen-strike-egt-police-2011-9

The workers have a legitimate grudge against a project that has all the hallmarks of gov-corp corruption. But cutting brakelines on a train? Holding people hostage? If this were anything other than a union action, they’d be facing charges of attempted murder and kidnapping by now.

Sadly the MSM is so desperate to prop this loser up that they will ignore just about anything that they think will do even more damage to him. This of course falls into that camp as did Project Gunrunner.

Heck, if an individual had done that, or a group with a gadsden flag, we’d be hearing about “domestic terrorism” and “right-wing extremists” again.

At least FBI was serving the warrant on behalf of the DOE. That seems a better alternative to the whole “every agency has a SWAT element” thing we have come to expect. If federal agencies are going to raid people, much better to do it this way than each agency having their FBN teams.

Oh, and before anyone pipes up about the DOE paramilitary teams, yes I know they do exist. Mostly they revolve around physical security of nuclear power plants. It seems more prudent to leave the enforcement of DOE investigations to FBI.

Here’s a knowledgeable — and extremely cynical — view of why the FBI raided Solyndra:

    http://brucekrasting.blogspot.com/2011/09/more-on-solyndra-next-move.html

If Bruce Krasting is right, then the raid itself is a setup for just another form of political payoff. Or it’s happening because a “crony capitalist” outsmarted its political partner to the tune of hundreds of millions. Lord, there is a part of me that so wishes not to believe that things can be this corrupt! (Yeah, but don’t worry; it’s the same part of me that once believed in the Tooth Fairy; I’ve got it under control.)
