9-11 non-commemoration

I wasn’t going to mark today. The tragedy for the 3,000 and their families and friends is beyond unspeakable. But we have to speak of it — ceaselessly — because the horror was delivered with such drama. And with such convenience for those who crave to rule.

We don’t hold week-long “all mourning all the time” media events for the 100,000 who die in the U.S. each year from the effects of prescription drugs. Or the tens of thousands killed in pointless political wars.

Why are we supposed to believe that those are lesser tragedies? Did those victims somehow suffer less? Are their families any less bereaved?

You and I know why our eyes and ears have been assaulted all week with repetitions of scenes and sorrows sane people want to put behind them. Oh no, we can’t mourn the day, pursue the murderers, then wake up and build freedom. No, we must remain in the thrall of fear so we’ll cling to those who pretend to protect us.

You and I know that the biggest tragedy of September 11, 2001 was the theft of our freedom by American politicians. And we knew that was going to happen from the first second we realized that it wasn’t some bozo in a Cessna that hit the first WTC tower.

Anyway, I didn’t even plan to say that much. But as I kept my eye on what others were saying this week, I came across a lot that is worth saying about those horrors that Our Rulers love so well.

I’m leaving out opinion pieces that just list freedoms we’ve lost in the last 10 years. You already have those memorized. Here are just a few of the best words. Please feel free to add your own links in the comments.

An American dies from the actions of his own government.

    Hi Claire

Long time, no talk to. 🙂 I just idly wandered back to the Mental Militia forums, looked up Hardyville, and saw a post that you had a blog. Cool, it looks very good.

I know it’s asking a lot, but if you could send me an email I’d much appreciate the chance to send you a good rant – it won’t do you any good, but it might help me out.

    Thanks

I’ve asked this each year… Why are those 3,000 so much more worthy of honor and compassion than the innocent victims of sanctions, invasions, those killed by the air strikes and drone missiles killed every day – before and since then?

So far, nobody will even attempt to give me an answer.

I’ve always thought that 9/11 was way overblown, no disrespect intended to those who died in the event, and overblown that I’m sick of hearing about it.

When I first saw the event on the news, I mentioned to my brother that “They” will crack down on the Freedoms we had left”. Of course he dismissed that comment since it came from me.

Yeah, that puts my thoughts into words perfectly, Claire….

Aside from those examples, tack on the ever growing amount of people who are heroes every day for realizing the sheeple herds are growing and decide to break from that and forge thru the fields undirected…..

I have sympathy for the people who died only for being caught in the games being played out by others, the ones who unknowingly were in the wrong place at the wrong time…..that doesn’t make them saints or heroes (at least in my definition), only victims……the Sept 11 incident certainly isn’t worthy of national holiday or any other special designation, especially when so many people completely missed the point of the situation…..

It should have been an eye opener on so many levels, instead it just became one more string on the puppets…..

Today is the day we are sanctimoniously instructed to “remember” that which the Bush administration (now in its third term) has never for one day, over the past ten years, allowed us to forget.

Someone wants to commemorate the occasion? Great. By all means, go get groped at a NYC-bound airport and do it in person. (At least that way there’s a sense of ownership.)

Personally, I find that commemorating a decade-long blood-dance rings a little hollow. I’ll pass, thanks. Let’s just get through this nauseating spectacle and return to our not having learned a single thing from it.

On 9/10/01, over 6000 people died in America. On 9/11/01, over 9000 died. On 9/12/01, and every day thereafter, another 6000+ people died.

I don’t understand people. What do they expect? 9/11 is the result of imperialism. A rational imperialist would say this blowback is just the cost of doing business, a bee sting. I guess most people don’t understand they live in an empire, so 9/11 came as a surprise to them. But at some point people have to wake up to reality. Wallowing in state-sanctioned fear and hatred doesn’t seem to be very helpful. I don’t see why people do it. Even worse, I can’t see how they can get upset about 3000 extra dead Americans on that day, while being completely indifferent to hundreds of thousands of deaths this vile government has caused in their name. I guess foreigners don’t count, but why not? I don’t understand people.

Fortunately a lot more people have figured out what is going on by now, than was true 10 years ago. Who know really what the average American thinks? You won’t find out by paying attention to the media, er, I mean, Ministry of Propaganda.

“An American dies from the actions of his own government.”
On this we will part company. There is absolutely no moral equivalency between the mass murdering actions of crazed religious fanatics who kill thousands, and the misguided actions, at times, of this country in trying to protect its citizens.
Why didn’t you join forces with Jerry Falwell and Fred Phelps and blame it on moral depravity and fagots?
Evil is evil, and its perpetrators are directly responsible for their actions.

This is exactly why libertarians like Ron Paul will never prevail. Too bad, because they are generally on the side of freedom.

But I am so disgusted with your picture title, and the shitting on the graves of those innocents by you, and your followers in the comment section, that I will never return to your blog. (Should have known by your admiration of Orlov.)
Your bitterness is vile to behold.

Old Printer- Ron Paul is NOT “libertarian”- even if he is on the liberty-respecting side of some issues.

How can truth offend you so badly? You must be feeling guilty. Government causes terrorism like a virus causes rabies. Accept it or deny it- it is still the absolute unvarnished truth.

Don’t let the liberty hit you in the butt on your way out the door, and enjoy your happy little police state.

    Old Printer,

You are quite right, evil is evil. If you take the blinders off you might see that the government that you apparently worship is responsible for much of that evil.

What Samuel Adams said as quoted by Kent McManigal seems very appropriate for you.

Islam’s “ring of fire” has nothing to do with the victims, boys and girls. It has everything to do with the psychotic derangement syndrome that is islam.

The “blame” some try to put on the victims in this case is of “meddling with the affairs of others”. Meanwhile- Islam’s jihad is murdering and raping and destruction of the “other”.

Get some perspective, folks; and stop hating the US. The US is certainly flawed- But Islam is pure evil. The US is only the closest anyone has come in several hundred years. It could get better or worse. But in it’s worst possible “mad max” scenario- It will be much better than the reality of Islam. Live in an islamic society for a while, and then re-consider your self-loathing of western imperfections.
