Radio requests

Okay. Need some help from the Living Freedom Brain Trust (aka you guys).

A reader asked for my recommendations for freedom-oriented streaming radio. But aside from NPR in the car, I never listen to radio.

He had already found this — which has some pretty good stuff on it, once you get past former libertarian Neal Boortz. I’m not sure everything on that page is up-to-date, though. In fact, I’m sure it’s not.

I was able to add podcasts from Brian Wilson and the Freedom Feens guys. But he’s looking primarily for live streaming.

So you tell me: What are some of the best and where can Our Inquiring Reader find them?

Try Free Talk Live out of Keene, NH. http://www.freetalklive.com. They’re live 7-10 pm EST every day. They’re even on ( 1 hour delay ) satellite radio.

I can’t get past Boortz. He’s a Libertarian of the Joe Stalin School. Never met a war or rendition he didn’t like. I listen to Brian Wilson every day but that’s about it.

You can get the iheartradio app on your machine, or on your smartphone, and use that to stream Brian Wilson live from noon to three Pacific on weekdays.

Elias Alias and Shorty Dawkins have a podcast, out here in Montana. We have just started recording and have two episodes up. We have featured this site and your Wonderful Handbook, in the most recent episode.
We look forward to talking with you on the podcast as well. I am the Sound Engineer and Producer.
    Give a listen.

The best I have found have always been local. I have travelled the country for medical school, residency, and now my final location in Idaho. In Des Moines, Jan Mickelson on WHO radio. He is still on and podcasting as a very entertaining libertarian. He generally refers to government agents as “those varmints.” In North Carolina, there was Jerry Agar (also libertarian) who has since moved on. In Idaho Falls, Mark Richardson broadcasts on 1260 AM but does not podcast. I never do enjoy the big national shows like I do the small local ones.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I’ve taken down each suggestion and will begin to form a schedule. Listened to a couple Freedom Feens yesterday. Perfect. The exact material I was looking for. Even ordered a DVD.

The following comment came from Dana. For some reason, it keeps turning up in the “Santa’s BIG Helpers” post instead of here. I have no way of moving it while keeping his name on it, so I’m manually moving it and putting my reply in the same comment:

    From Dana

    Hi Claire,

    Don’t forget:

If you’d ever like to be a guest, just hollar. Personally, though, the thought of letting myself anywhere near a radio microphone fills me with dread — so I know the writer v. talker mindset well.

    My response

Dana, I would never forget Katherine — or you. You guys are among my freedomista superheroes. I thought of giving JS a link to Katherine’s show, but not being a radio listener, I wasn’t sure of how much of her content was political/privacy oriented and how much religious. (I know that to Katherine the two are indivisible; not so to some folks.)

In any case, my omission, mea culpa — and Katherine is a saint of freedom.

I also hope her cancer treatment is going well and isn’t taking too much of a toll on you all.

I’ve been meaning to start listening to some myself since I can’t really stomach regular TV anymore. I was thinking of starting with

Hi, Claire! Thanks for the kind shout.

My radio show, subtitled “Talk Radio With a Freedom Twist,” is about freedom, privacy, electronic surveillance, health, politics, humor, education, good living, and every other interesting thing I run across. In fact, it’s kind of like your blog.

Since I am indeed a Christian (which is part of what helps me survive the insanity of our falling-apart world), my show is shot through with a liberal dose of faith. But I should clarify that the faith/Christian part is more often context than actual content. Many of my listeners are not Christian at all, and some are even antagonistic towards religion, yet they still write in to say they love the show. (You should give it a listen 😉

The show nationally syndicated on 23 stations, and airs
M-F 4:00-6:00 Eastern, and live every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

You can listen “on demand” here at any time:

Warm best wishes to you and the Backwoods team!

    In freedom,
    Katherine Albrecht
