Via Wendy McElroy, John Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute interviews Brandon Raub, the young man locked in the loony bin because of his Facebook postings.
Raub was released on a judge’s order because the petition for Raub’s detainment was “… so devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy.” A wrongful-arrest lawsuit is now in the works.

Of course, Raub violated the first commandment, which is …?
Thou Shalt Not Put Things On Social Media You Don’t Want The World To See..If In Doubt, Don’t Shout It Out. Sad, but true.
LOL, actually I’d have made that one the … oh, second or third commandment. But yeah …
‘Course, all poor Raub was doing in his postings was referencing songs and games and such in an angry way. Mencken wrote things just as “bad” as that, but back then officials probably understood the concept of metaphor …
Okay, I was gonna go with “shut the hell up.” But that’s pretty much what Scott said, so I’ll sit back and wait to be edumacated.
You’re close. Very, very close …
… talk on Facebook?
…defy .gov
M — LOL, I’d say that Raub kept the commandment “Thou shalt defy .gov to preserve thy freedom.”
Hint: The broken commandment I’m thinking of is more obvious when you listen to Raub’s interview than when you just read about why he got arrested (oh, sorry, NON-arrested but locked in the psych ward without due process).
Haven’t listened but I suspect it’s that whole “no gods before me” thing. Master is just a bit jealous that way.
Never use your real name on the internet and always use a proxy or other IP address cloaking/anonymising service?
Sent from Zlin, CSR. Honest!
LOL, I’m givin’ Kevin a prize for “no gods before me.”
What I really had in mind was THOU SHALT NEVER, EVER TALK TO COPS — which, if you listen to the interview, you’ll see Raub violated badly and repeatedly. But “no gods before me” is even better, and it even has the advantage of being … well, the first commandment. 🙂
