I’ve been saving some of these for a week or more. So if you’ve seen a few before bear with me. Chaos is gradually receding. But gradually …
- NYPD refuses to answer questions about how they (and Bloomberg) pointed firearms at an innocent audience.
- “At war with the concept of secrecy itself.” ‘Nother good one from Tom Knapp.
- The Free State Wyoming project has a brand new forum hosted by my old friends at the Mental Militia. (UPDATE: Please see Mama Liberty’s correction in comments. The new Wyoming Mavericks forum has no official connection with the FSW.)
- “23 signs you’re secretly an introvert.” Whaddyamean, secretly?
- I know all the latest Bradley Manning talk is about him hoping to become Chelsea Manning. But I’m still struck by the words he spoke during his sentencing hearing. The ones all about the futility of one little individual making decisions for himself. Don’t they sound like the mumblings of someone who’s been brainwashed? Or — more optimistically — someone trying to convince his captors their brainwashing has worked?
- “I am Spartacus.”
- A classic from Oleg Volk on gestures of submissiveness and how they reinforce unfreedom.
That one’s courtesy of A.G. If I’ve failed to credit anybody for the links, I apologize — and blame time and the Mindless Forces of Chaos.
Just recently became aware of Sarah Hoyt. Currently reading Darkship Thieves and enjoying it.
[ Whaddyamean, secretly? ]
It’s Huffpost. Over there being different is a bug, not a feature.
Which is why I’m here.
Interesting article, and timely in a humorous way. Just ducked out the side door of a crammed Bible study to recharge for a bit.
Ironic. I just read one of the better articles on extro-intros earlier and now you linked to the subject here. Must be todays theme.
Other article: http://blog.bufferapp.com/introverts-and-extroverts-what-they-are-and-how-to-get-along-with-everyone?utm_source=buffer&utm_campaign=Buffer&utm_content=bufferf8cb9&utm_medium=twitter
Why is introvert always discussed like it is an anomaly? I peg all 23 signs, no secret to the three people that know me well, never been a secret to me. Being an introvert has lots of advantages, the fact that it drives my boss nuts is only one.
Arthur Silber has this excellent essay on the Bradley Manning “apology”:

I got the impression Mama Liberty was going to do another FSW forum when the old one went dark, and so she has. We’ve had an issue with administration since our old admin went awol. But the old forum is back online now. Who knows how many users we’ve lost…
Anyway the more, the merrier…
I liked Oleg’s post about submissiveness; it’s very true. I wonder if carrying a gun openly is a sign of submission? đŸ˜‰ I wrote something similar here:

The NYPD didn’t violate rule number two. What made one think they cared about anybody but themselves?
Ah yes, and thanks for the plug Claire, but the Mavericks have zero official ties to the Free State Wyoming project.
When the FSW forum went down, a number of members agonized over what to do, and decided to start our own. But the FSW, the Free State Wyoming name, idea, logo and all the rest are claimed as private property by Boston T. Party. We have no desire to challenge that. And yes, the original FSW forum is back up, supposedly under new management.
We’re just going to do our own thing and continue to be neighbors and friends, welcoming any others who wish to walk along. And, since we’re not tied to Boston or just to Wyoming, we’re welcoming new friends from Idaho, Montana, Nevada and anywhere else folks have found freedom and wish to promote it.
We are absolutely grateful to the Mental Militia for giving us room in their house for our little forum. I hope everyone will visit both sites and join in the discussions. https://www.thementalmilitia.com/forums/index.php
19/23 on the HuffPo scale. And some of the 4 that I “missed” don’t make much sense to me as being signs of introversion.
Sorry, MamaLiberty! Correction noted on post.
Sometime “submission rituals” are simply protective camouflage. If I ever seem to be bowing my head to someone in power it is more likely I am looking for a rock.
