This came from C^2 with the title “A Cartoonist’s Advice.”
It’s that (words by Bill Watterson, creator of Calvin and Hobbes, art by cartoonist Gavin Aung Than). It’s one heck of a lot more.
A deep-breath-taking reminder that no matter what anybody else wants, demands, or expects of us, our life is ours to make.

Raining this morning. The first really good fall-like rain. Though temps are still summer-mild and there’s not even a breeze to rattle the wind chimes hanging outside the window, it’s another reminder.
It reminds me of this. And to live while life lasts (a reminder I need over and over and over again).

I pretty much missed this summer from being so busy. The busy-ness was in a good cause. But I still missed another precious, short, NorthWET summer.
But today I get to sit in front of a big window and watched the rain.
I’d like to declare the summer’s chaos over. Every sign says both the summer and the chaos are over. But you know what happens when you say, “Whew! Thank heaven I’m done with that!”
So I won’t say it. I’ll just keep quiet and enjoy the warm rain.
Hope you get to do your share (or more than your share) of enjoying.
I think I will take that cartoonists advice. Living on your own terms is the ultimate freedom.

Ah, but you’ve written about it, even in “quotes”, do you know what that means?
You’re Dooooomeed! I tell ya. DOOMED!!!! Bwahahahahahaha!
Yeah… doomed to a quiet joy!
I love this blog. (And I can even save the cartoon, and scroll it to read when I want.) I especially love Glenn Yarbrough, and hadn’t heard that song in years. Thanks.
Here’s a live-good story I recently ran across. Remind you of anyone?

Thanks for the cartoonists advice. That’s a keeper. Should be a poster (but I get the whole thought process behind it) – belongs on a wall where it could be read daily.
I love Calvin and Hobbs
Take a look at this for a few laughs:

Concerning “A Cartoonist’s Advice”: When o’ when will you cease printing such propaganda!!!! All it does is encourage me to keep believing that “lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for.”
Now if you will excuse me, I have some windmills…er…giants to battle.
Thanks Claire, you brought back some good memories with your link to Glenn Yarbrough’s singing.
