- What? Eric Holder a hypocrite? Nooooo.
- Why, that would be as unthinkable as saying cops are lying thugs or that they get away with things that would send the rest of us to prison.
- Why, that would even be like saying that feds and local cops are conspiring to keep information out of the hands of judges. Couldn’t happen. This is Murrica!
- Isn’t that cute? The NSA has its own search engine just for sharing information about us.
- Sigh. Another hopeful libertarian project collapses into a rubble heap of fraud and scandal.
- Oh well. Here’s something useful (and maybe even fun) to do while waiting for Truth, Justice, and the Murrican Way to triumph: make your own knife without power tools. (link fixed!)
- ADDED: Per jed in comments on today’s other post: pit bull saves kid from swarm of bees. (Needed a little more good news here.)
So sad to read that about Galt’s Gulch Chile. I had been watching it and hoping it would succeed (and maybe even moving there myself someday). I hope they’ll be able to work it out (or that someone more competent [and honest?] tries again).
Incidentally, the link to “make your own knife” goes to the wrong place (not that it’s a bad site.) Just sayin’.
Knife? About cell phones, I’m about to start leaving mine at home, or at least taking the battery out and using it only as a “call out” device, so I won’t have the creeps tracking me all the time.
I’ve had two experiences with joint ownership of property (other than with my wife). Both of them turned into disasters. I just don’t think it fits human nature very well to do that.
The Pit Bull bee story reminded me to share a friend’s new F*c*book page that I just set up about a week ago…

You should be able to view without having a FB account. “Ego” is a “Perro de Presa Canario” which means: “Canary Dog of Prey.” He looks a lot like a pit bull and his breed were also historically terribly mis-used as fighting dogs.
My friend, with Ego’s help, rescue and fosterall kinds of furry (and hairless) things in need. I especially like “Brian,” the special needs raccoon.
Sorry, I’ve clicked on ‘make your own knife’ three times now (figuring it was *me* doing something wrong) and I keep getting a story on the Tacoma PD and cell phone tracking.
??
I also recommend Wayne Goddard’s books on knife making. The $50 Knife Shop, and The Wonder of Knife Making.
Haven’t tried it myself yet.
Paul, You can also put your cell phone into a metal box or wrap it in foil.
This makes it impossible for a radio signal to get in or out.

Small metal cigar boxes are great. a paper towel in bottom for padding and a thick rubber band to hold it shut.
Turn it off first, tho.
Don’t know why I’d want to make a knife myself. š I’ve got so many already. I like things such as guns and knives, obviously, and have bought quite a few over the years. Most of us who shoot and carry have a box of holsters and assorted gear that doesn’t work for us any more. I also have a box of kitchen and other knives, multi and “swiss army” type things, and other cutting tools that no longer make the grade for everyday use. But I have not yet managed to talk myself into giving/tossing them away either. Need to get them out for the next gun show, really. š
What’s increasingly fascinating about law enforcement agencies’ adoption of stingray devices
J.D. uses a lot nicer word than I would.
Claire, have you seen this MaidSafe thing? Decentralized internet, no servers, no advertising? Sounds like Heaven…
