Been saving a couple of these links for weeks and surely should have posted them before Halloween afternoon. But … oh well. Happy Halloween, anyhow.

Oh mercy! That bulldog is simply hilarious. My sister sent me pictures of her four mutts in Halloween costumes. Chihuahuas dressed like two different bugs, a chicken and something else I couldn’t quite make out. The ‘chicken” was trying hard to hide under the couch cushions. Even Chihuahuas get embarrassed I guess. 🙂
Halloween used to be about my favorite holiday, mostly because I got a kick out of seeing the little ones in costume. But we don’t have much of that here and the children do not go door to door. The churches and schools have parties, and they dress up for that, but most of us don’t get to see them. I saw a group of kindergarten age children in costume earlier this week, however. They were going into the library as I left. Most of them just looked pretty bored with it all.
What a shame. I remember how much I loved dressing up for things like that, and how wonderful it was to have a mother so enthusiastically involved. One year all three of us – mother, sister and I – dressed up as witches, tall cone hats and all – to greet the trick or treat kids at the door. Mother decided that my sister and I were too old to go out anymore, but we had just as much fun after that.
If I had tried to put my black lab Barkley in a costume, he would have waited until I was asleep, got the razor and given me a mullet while I slept. Hope all is well in your world Claire.
