I’ve had good luck with Honda generators and appreciate how quiet they are.

Yep. And I’ve had bad luck trying to save up for the bloody fortune those things cost! But indeed, they’ve earned a ton of praise.

Briggs & Stratton has something similar but at about 30% less cost. http://amzn.to/2dTxZVK Anybody have any experience with theirs?

    Amazon has this @ ~$450 :
    “WEN 56200i, 1600 Running Watts/2000 Starting Watts”

I too balked at the Honda and Yamaha price tags on the 2000 watt sets but found this and liked the reviews. Been using it six months now and @ 36 hours run time (I keep a log). Just did second oil change (you’ll want a proper funnel). Starts at second pull and purrs. I’m very happy with it. πŸ™‚

John — Thanks. Here’s a Living Freedom Amazon link to your generator: http://amzn.to/2dPh4Zt

How is the pull on that thing? I’d really like to have an electronic start (because I’m a “girl” and one who’s not getting any stronger). For a while in the desert we had a (larger) generator with a pull-start and I could never get it going. But if the pull is mild enough, that would work.

    Clare, you ask:
How is the pull on that thing?

Two fingers on the handle is enough to do it for me. It is NOT necessary to try ripping the starter handle off! πŸ™‚ Smooth steady pull and let the cord retract slowly. Easiest pull start engine I’ve encountered. (Good manual and I’m informed that it is a Yamaha engine – but not verified)

    (remember – fresh gas!)

    Claire – Me very bad.
Please no shoot me for dropping letter from your name.
No spell too good very often!

LOL, John, you’re in no danger. If I went after anybody who ever spelled my name Clair or Clare or Wolf or Woolf they’d have had to arrest me a long time ago. Thanks for the good word on that generator pull.

Speaking strictly for myself, I find Fred Reed to be such a one-note writer I rarely bother reading him anymore. He’s excellent at pointing out what’s wrong with things, in snarky and acerbic ways. And that seems to be all he’s good at. One dose of that every few months is enough for me now, I’ve reached saturation.

Not entirely OT: This election in a picture.
Personally, I think the reality is closer to one in the Trump cylinder. YMMV. But the basic idea is spot on.

Yup. Found that one already (H/T Bill St.C) and dropped it into one of today’s later posts. That seems to sum it up as well as anything.
