Well, I guess we can all just breathe a big sigh of relief.

‘Cause Comey says Hillary is still a-okay with him.

Nothing to see, folks. Move along.

Oh, good. I was so worried.

(decoded: Well, that was a nice week of fantasy while it lasted.)

Joy. More links to yet another social networking site that won’t display the info unless logged in.

This definitely a case of, it is not over until the fat lady is in an orange jumpsuit. The AG is never going to allow charges against Hillary, she is a protected class.

Comey gets to live and he even might keep his job too.

The good news here is that the publisher we work for has decided not to hold this week’s issue for the election. (We publish Tuesday for Wednesday delivery.)

Which makes sense; the only local races that weren’t decided in the Republican primary are two ballot issues about whether livestock should be allowed to run free.

Seems that back in the day folks with ranches like the 70,000-acre YO didn’t fence. If you wanted to keep their cows out of your garden, you put up a fence.

Through the years that changed, with local elections, to require owners to fence. That left the county with a patchwork of different rules, usually based on voting precincts that have since changed. So the two ballot issues will establish a county-wide rule.

Anyway, my wife and I won’t be out chasing down ballot results after the polls close. No, I don’t expect any trouble here. But then trouble doesn’t RSVP.

But get out the popcorn. I have a feeling that, however the v*tes fall, Wednesday will be entertaining.

Ah, the YO ranch. Great place. Charley 3 was a good guy.

Presidio County was the last open-range county in Texas. Voted closed-range in 1984. Still a lot of FM 170 that’s unfenced, though.

Our friend, Cathy L.Z. Smith, sent this on, noting, “Invest an hour and see if any of this seems familiar to you.”

    I concur.

“But get out the popcorn. I have a feeling that, however the v*tes fall, Wednesday will be entertaining.”

Amen, Bruthah Larry. (And I’m sure Joel will be avidly watching the results of your cattle fencing v*tes.)

Somewhat related (not to cattle fencing): Over on, home of thousands of Trumpists, the announcement that Comey exhonerated Clinton for a second time brought out a strange reaction. A) there seems to be a widespread belief that this somehow puts the final nail in Hillary’s coffin (huh?) and b) the enthusiasm for Trump ramped up into a near mania. Suddenly this afternoon the place was full of gifs of Trump with halos, angel wings, gleaming armor — the kind of stuff everybody thought was creepy when it was being applied to Obama back when.

On both sides, the whole business is getting scary. And completely out of control.

I just try to keep reminding myself that it’s the positions they occupy which are the source of the danger, more so than any particular occupant. And any hope I’ve held that one creep might be a little better than another was always illusory anyway.

“The people have always some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness. …This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs;…..” Plato

Claire it is the natural order of things IMHO for people to look for their savior mainly because to look into oneself as the person most responsible for your condition is advocated by few and done by even less.

However I personally think neither Trump nor Hillary can even make the trains run on time and that speaks for how cheap the value of freedom has gotten to be in this country today.
