  • Turns out that, as pot has been legalized, teens have had a harder time getting the stuff. Sure, that’s against all predictions — except predictions by people who grok how markets work.
  • Teen drug and alcohol use has fallen in general. Of course, that’s according to the Washington Post, so it may be fake news.
  • It takes seven shots to kill a 73-year-old man suffering dementia. But then, he was armed with a deadly crucifix, so I guess they had to do it.
  • The one big “success” Dems keep pointing to for Obamacare is the supposed “20 million” newly insured. Never mind that most of those only got crammed onto overstressed Medicaid programs. The Heritage Foundation looked at the actual figures and says the real number isn’t even close to the claim.
  • The Cabinet. It sounds like the title of a horror movie, doesn’t it? Lord knows that’s how the media sees it as Trump makes his choices. Vin Suprynowicz laughs.
  • You already know this, but it’s good to get a reminder. In the first of his “Camel in the tent” series, Nathan Barton details how drivers licenses steal freedom and always have.
  • Write a really dumb headline about a movie and the Internet will come after you. Hilariously.
  • Next time you’re in Bangkok, here’s a place to go. Well, if you need a pup fix. (H/T MJR)

Today’s deals on Amazon fall under a category you know I could not pass up: 11 Puppies Playing. Among the daily deals: a PetCube video camera and laser toy that enables you to see, talk to, and play with you pet when you’re not home; a doggie DNA test; and a YUGE Mel Brooks DVD collection for under $20. What does a boxed set of Mel Brooks movies have to do with puppies? I don’t know. There are lots of other non-pet daily deals, too. Lots of clothing, shoes, etc.

SW: “Main characters die. Villains die. Faceless extras die. And they all die the same way — too soon.”

Is there a Star Wars movie in which lots of people don’t die? The Christmas special might be an exception. I could never watch all of it. And you should probably count viewer suicides.

A nurse I know would hardly be surprised by the Obamacare coverage scam; she’s always maintained that nearly everyone “added” was on Medicaid.

Is it just me, or does Vin Suprynowicz sound more like a conservative every time I read one of his articles? Seems to me there was a time when he’d be viewing Trump with alarm. Now he appears to be urging him on.

Joel, whether we like it or not, government exists. Seems to me that hiring those who are likely to be competent is better than hiring incompetents. I don’t think that we need more people like Hillary or Kerry as SecState, e.g. As Vin said, generals are less likely to get us into a needless war than are those who have no clue what war can do.

Hi Claire! I have a book recommendation for the crew. I’m surprised it didn’t come up yet.
Or maybe I just missed it – just ignore it then, everyone 🙂
