Over in the public part of Claire’s Cabal, I tip my hat to Kit Perez and the younger, more activist set of freedomistas. I hope some of us “elders” can encourage them along their way.
If you’re a Cabal member, you can comment over there. If you’re not a Cabal member, you can still read that post and everything else on the “Let’s Talk” board.
Most of the rest of the Cabal is private. Although it will remain private, I’m strongly considering eliminating the pay model, which hasn’t worked very well. Or at least changing the way the pay model works over time.
Oh, the paywall has been great for keeping out trolls. But not so great for bringing in new people with fresh perspectives. So if you’re interested in joining (or re-joining) the Cabal, drop me an email if you have my addy or leave a comment using your real address for the sign-on. I’ll get in touch. We are looking for people who want to be active and productive participants, not just observers. It only works when everybody’s pitching in.
Ads. It may make you a bit of money to help run things. I know it’d sucks, but at least it’ll help you and entice other to “come and play” if the price of admissions were low, lower or even none if possible. There’s reasons advertising exists and some people allow them to be posted on their properties ever since advertising started.
Sorry, Jim B. Not putting ads on a private forum. I would consider putting them here on the blog (and in fact have tried some Amazon ads here, which worked only so-so, mostly doing weird things as Amazon’s little bots made hilarious analyses of blog content). But the Cabal is a closed forum and even once it has free memberships I’m not subjecting it to any advertiser’s data gathering.
In the winter in your cozy house, you could knit or paint or make jewelry to sell or auction off to the Cabal. And that might be an incentive for others to join.
P.S: If you’re selling, I want first dibs on Sophia icon.
Standing for what you believe in deserves the respect of everyone.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness may be an endowed right but methinks it may take an effort if you want to keep it.
“P.S: If you’re selling, I want first dibs on Sophia icon.”
Why, thank you, Pat. Yep, Sophia is on my list. Now I just have to make time to make icons! And get the proper materials, of course. (I currently have a wonderful library book on icon painting, but this artist uses acrylics — as I gather quite a few modern icon-painters do. While egg-tempera seems the “right” medium, it would certainly be a whole lot easier to make a start with acrylics. OTOH, I also have a library book on egg-tempera painting — not icon-related.)
Anyhow, if/when I get back to that, I could sell both originals and prints, so everybody who wanted could have something.
Don’t be sorry. It was just a thought, brain storming as it were.
