- This is the 50th anniversary of John Holt’s pioneering book How Children Learn. Holt became the godfather of the homeschooling movement when it was still dangerous for families to take education into their own hands. A new edition of his book is now available — and homeschoolers remain the enemies of coerced schooling.

A problem for researchers testing the new-generation cancer drugs: too few patients
My wife’s oncologist had her try Nivolumab. Opdivo is the commercial name for it and there’s been commercials on TV about it. It’s immunotherapy that uses the body’s own immune system to help fight cancer and it doesn’t have the nasty side-effects that chemotherapy has. It worked for a while, but then the cancer started growing and spreading, so her oncologist got her back on chemo. Immunotherapy has shown a lot of promise though and is the future in cancer treatment.
There are two things my dog has never smelled like; lavender and oatmeal!
Too true, Comrade X. Same here.
OTOH, would those folks have any luck pushing a “dog smell” air freshener in such classic aromas as …
Rolled-In Poo
Skunk-in-the-Face
Eau de Swamp
Touch of Dead Fish
Anal Gland Express
or even our old favorite: Soggy Doggie?

My old buddy Ghost was big on that one. And I didn’t need to buy it online. 🙁
