- What if the forensic science at your trial … wasn’t science at all? (Long read, but worthwhile. H/T Shel)
- A biohacker, whatever that might be, gives himself a “herpes vaccine” on FB Live. No, it’s not the first time someone has done science on himself. It probably won’t even work. But … interesting times.

RE: Item #2
They left out the The Fat Leonard pay for play Navy sex scandal, which deserves a place on the list for its name alone
The Dr abuse by board, and the forensics scandals, great catches there Claire and Shel, learned a lot today.
The failure of so-called forensic science to meet even minimal scientific standards is no surprise to me. Over the years I’ve come to a conclusion that much — maybe most — of it really is no better than voodoo. Things like toolmark, bitemark or textual analysis are just the tip of an iceberg of pseudo-science.
I once told a judge that an astrologer could be trusted as much as most alleged “forensic scientists”. For some reason he tossed me out of the jury pool.
If other “forensic” evidence is handles as well as most “rape kits,” there probably isn’t much use in collecting it. Of course, I much prefer to see the rapist injured/dead at the feet of the intended victim… who is holding a smoking gun. Or at least the rapist is rolling around on the ground screaming that she’s destroyed his balls…
