- Sometimes conspiracy theories turn out to be true. Like the one that said Broward county cops were deliberately letting juveniles like the Parkland murderer off the hook.
- The western world isn’t becoming less religious. The fanatics are still with us; they’ve just adopted a new belief called intersectionality. (And before that … state worship, of which intersectionality is just one of the craziest sects.)

Kurt Schlichter – “Taking their cue from the elites in Europe and Canada who are stripping dissenters of their free speech rights and religious freedoms” Don’t know where he’s getting his information about Canada from, but we still rank a lot higher in freedom (including free speech) than the not so United States.

Mike — I did wonder about that reference to Canada. I expect it might have to do with the attempts to silence Jordan Peterson. But even though he’s Canadian, I don’t think of the opposition to him as being Canadian, particularly.
On Canada – I think Schlichter is talking about the attempts to revive hate speech laws.

If you think so, try some public assembly criticizing health care or firearms regulations in front of buildings where your legislators are in session, especially if there are brown people in your crowd.
I had friends, ten or so years back, that were just as beaten and arrested as any American for refusal to disperse when they were peacefully assembled with proper registration of the event. The disperse order was illegal, but that didn’t stop it from being given.
I like most Canadians, but I’ll pass on Canada. We can still fix our freedoms here in the US.
If I give my dog silly baby-talk he growls at me.
In the scenario of a blue attack on red, Mr. Schlichter left out one very important fact reducing the threat to laughable. That is that whether it’s the ‘law enforcement’ or the ‘military’ forces – they will be attacking their friends and relatives, and WE (some of us at least) know where they live. And in a civil war – for some reason families appear to be fair game.
Apologies – I got in a hurry because the dog needed to go outside, and I neglected to edit my own comment. After “…attacking their friends and relatives….” I meant to state that such would heavily reduce the available manpower well beyond normal logistical and readiness considerations. Plus there would be those who would show up, but refuse certain orders – another complication, as it now takes one to guard that one if he’s arrested. And the more that refuse illegal orders, the more will there will be who will consider it.
The part about ‘we know where they live’ is just another reason to make them want to refuse orders or just not show up for duty. I should have separated the two things more clearly.
So, the Gnomes took away free checking, and now Leviathan is going to give it back, and all you need do to get it is to kiss his ring and buy things from him? What do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. But then, it does bring the cashless society closer to everyone, doesn’t it? And that is something they all want, even Big Brother.
There was a court case in Canada (British Columbia, to my vague recollection) where a person accused of libel was found liable for damages. It was held to be no defense that his allegations against the plaintiff were factual.
The defendant was apparently guilty of excessive embarrassment.
The Broward County deal followed Dade County’s school district policy, with the police and sheriff working with them.
It’s not unique to SE Florida. Trayvon Martin benefitted from similar treatment.

I belive it was Mark Steyn who was sued for accurately quoting an imam.
