- Today cannabis becomes legal across Canada. Not easily gettable — yet. But legal.
- They’ll also make it easier to get pardons for “crimes” involving simple possession. (How come they don’t just automatically wipe the convictions?)
- The world’s tiniest republic began as an April Fools joke and has beer running from the water taps in its town square. (H/T MJR)

- The enduring dilemma of Bill Clinton. Somebody doesn’t want to face reality.
- These will make you feel smarter. At least by comparison.
I knew Bill Clinton back when he was atty general of Arkansas. Bill was a horndog but he didn’t need to chase after women, they threw themselves at him. Was he wrong to take advantage of that? Well, yes, he was married at the time. By todays standards he would be a criminal. By tomorrows standards, who knows?. The pendulum swings and we go nuts, then it swings back the other way and guess what? We go nuts again.Rape because he forced me, always wrong, but rape because he has more power than I so I slept with him, EVEN if he didn’t push that power. Not so sure. Hopefully we’ll settle down somewhere in the middle where women are not considered victims just because they are women.
All the hoopla over cannabis in Canada has made me laugh. So many people are only now coming out with the warnings about the downside of cannabis, yet it was these same people were silent when the discussion was in full swing. Like anything else “new and exciting” there will be spikes but then things will settle down.
About the cannabis pardons, there is a lot of misinformation going around. The feds are only now passing legislation to ensure those with criminal records for minor cannabis offenses (possession of 30 grams or fewer) will be pardoned. Up here, when a pardon is granted the record of the criminal offense is expunged from CPIC (the police data base) so background checks will not find anything.

About the smallest republic. I’m seriously thinking of visiting it next April fools day just to get my passport stamped. The free beer is only on April 1st, as is getting your passport stamped. The free beer is a nice side benefit.
Neil Boortz, the conservative radio commentator, once said he had met two men who were so charismatic that it made a person just want to be around them. One was a porn star, whose name I don’t remember, and the other was Bill Clinton.

I don’t doubt that women threw themselves at Bill Clinton. Power + charisma = major aphrodisiac. And I’ve always heard how, in person, BC is irresistible to nearly everybody (though his charisma sure doesn’t show on camera).
But Juanita Broaddrick didn’t fling herself into his arms — and there’s a fair bit of evidence to support her claim of rape. Paula Jones didn’t fling herself into his arms. Monica Lewinsky apparently did — but even if he didn’t commit a crime in his relationship with her (other than lying to Congress), that was even back then recognized as an abuse of power.
And oh man, how Bill and Hillary together then proceeded to abuse and intimidate all those women.
I remembered another quote; Kissinger said power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. He certainly should have known. He also wasn’t married at the time. Apparently there’s a crossover benefit. http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/alpha-male-body-language-to-prevent-attack?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ActiveResponseTraining+%28Active+Response+Training%29
