There is yet another e-coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce. The FDA recommends tossing any romaine you might have. (I got this word from MJ yesterday evening … five minutes after finishing a big salad made with guess what? I seem to have survived the experience so far.)
How a six-year-old survived being lost in the woods while walking 18 miles toward safety. He’s 39 now and revisits his trek with a writer from Outside.
Some decisions are much better, even though not perfect from a freedomista standpoint. One long fight over one of the nation’s more insane licensing laws has ended in a victory for African-American hair braiders and the Institute for Justice.

Sometimes I think The Oatmeal has jumped the shark. Then Matthew Inman comes up with a beauty like this long graphic in praise and wonder of InSight’s upcoming Mars landing. He’ll also be tweeting the landing’s “seven minutes of terror” from the Jet Propulsion Lab on Monday.
A young border collie, left behind in Paradise, CA, during the fire is found badly burned but guarding the only house standing in her neighborhood. No surprise that the GoFundMe for the dog’s medical bills far exceeded expectations (but then, I suspect her long-term vet care from those burns might also exceed expectations).
What pisses me off about the dog story is that there are no stories being written about the Florida panhandle that was devastated by Michael. They’re conservative and the media is liberal so they moved in immediately.
A step in the right direction in MO, but it remains absurd that the government requires hair braiders to buy permission to practice this at all!
It seems like that Daily Mail article on the dog that survived the Paradise fire got some details wrong. https://www.visaliatimesdelta.com/story/life/inspire/2018/11/16/camp-fire-chico-paradise-california-dog-save-butte-county-humane-society-pet-supplies/2005424002/
