A pair of weekend longreads

Last week I had a couple email exchanges with Alex of Ammo.com, a fellow freedomista who pointed me toward his company’s Resistance Library.

First, he sent me a link for “Venezuela and the Paradox of Plenty: A Cautionary Tale About Oil, Envy, and Demagogues.” This is a comprehensive article written by a LewRockwell.com alumnus.

Then he directed me toward “Weapons of War On Our Streets: A Guide to the Militarization of Police.”

I confess my initial reaction to the second piece was, “Readers of my blog don’t need that one. They already know all there is to know on the topic.” But when I skimmed the article, I found plenty that I hadn’t known — deep history going back several lifetimes, and predictions of what DARPA might have in store for our future.

Ammo.com’s Resistance Library is full of in-depth articles — articles that are clearly the product of many weeks of research and writing. Not mere opinion pieces or rants. In a sad commentary on our times and the degradation of the Internet, they no longer byline anything (not even with the pseudonym they adopted for a time) due to death threats. But the articles are masterful and will put facts at your fingertips.

So above are two for your perusal. If you’re having a long rainy or snowy weekend, they’re well worth your time. And there’s more where they come from; just follow the links at the bottom of the page.

@Ersatz that’s a fascinating/disturbing .mil document. Thanks for row 33 I’m glad to know the lil ole Abbeville Police Department now have their hands on a “Mine-Resistant Vehicle” geez… https://www.dropbox.com/s/ep45ypkr3chj8v8/Screenshot%202018-12-03%2021.21.26.jpg?dl=0

@Claire big fan of your work! Seen your quotes on other pro-liberty, pro-2A sites so I know I’m not the only one. Thanks for the kind words about our guides. They take a lot of work.

@Sam, yes, great topic on the water cooler / cocktail party circuit. Amazing how few people actually know about the scheme formally known as “The 1033 Program”. Apparently it was a huge effort just to get .gov to come clean and document everything for the public.
