The links, they keep following me …
- In Phoenix, it’s drawn guns, profanities, and threats over a doll shoplifted by a four-year-old.
- You see, this is why I love to read Jonah Goldberg even as many other freedomistas scorn him.
- The utterly beastly tactics of the Mueller team. (H/T JB)
- Yes, England has gone completely bonkers. Hey guys, Knives have edges as well as points. And there are always plenty of blunt objects around the house for the resident domestic abuser to wield.
- As Borepatch observes, the British government is downright childish. Kitchen knives! Oh my!
- One of many trans dilemmas: “We’re normal. You should be forced to pay to fix us.”
- And speaking of being forced to pay, Deroy Murdock sticks his tongue firmly in cheek and says, “If Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Is a Right, Let’s Have Guns for All.”
- The company that owns Krispy Kreme, Keurig and other breakfasty corporations, has a Nazi past (which isn’t at all surprising for a long-lived German conglomerate). It also has a strikingly odd Jewish past, and is now striving to do a good thing about that.
- As cannabis legalization spreads, ‘shroom legalization begins.

- Among all the other changes as wolves morphed into dogs, we humans may have helped canines self-select for those big, wide, sad puppy-dog eyes.
I thought the article about dogs emoting with their eyes tied nicely into this clip of a pup watching Lion King https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTo8R6_GKpk
I would love to see an actual test of those blunt knives. If you can shiv someone with a screwdriver…
We’ve reviewed travel advisories and the very latest information on living costs, visa requirements and other factors to find 2019’s best places for an affordable, safe retirement abroad.
IOW, “We’ve read the propaganda, but we haven’t actually been there or talked to someone who has.” For that you have to check out the comments.
They also presume you want to live in the large cities.
(BTW, Note that the original title was “20 places.” I guess they ran out of paradise.)
There’s a reason lots of people from these countries are trying to get into the U.S.
The places to retire piece leave a bit to be desired as larryarnold notes. Being very familiar with two of them I noticed some mistakes. Not major mistakes but…
Basically pieces like this are OK starting points if you are just starting your research and do not have strong preferences for things like culture, language, etc. It is a mistake to use them for more than that.
The major reason people from the listed countries and many others are trying to get to the US is economic opportunity. The piece does not suggest that you go there to start a business or get a great job. As retirement destinations the ones I am familiar with are pretty good, if you like what they offer. From a business perspective a couple would be OK as well if you can fit into the local culture. But that is not the focus of the article.
The trans piece is a good example of the problem I have with conservatives. They paint with far too wide a brush. Not all trans individuals expect the state to cater to their needs. Just like not all Backs and Latinos expect expect welfare, special treatment in schools, etc. Many wish the state would get the hell out of the way. Many wish the self-anointed spokes persons that claim to speak for all would shut the hell up.
Conservatives are supposed to treat people as individuals, not Identity Groups. I get it when the Left does it, that is what they are about. Libertarians and Conservatives are supposed to be better than that.
