It’s a mix of good and bad, as you’d expect. With a few surprises, too.
However much the left may criticize, they won’t be able to call this weak or right-wing absolutist. Purists (like me) won’t like it. But it’s … more nuanced than usual from Trump.

The new and improved government job security measure, more and more government control of people. Nothing much at all to do with safety for children or anyone else except bureaucrats. Only one thing really needed to do the real job: Eliminate government from education, at every level. Return responsibility for children to their families and voluntary communities. Then, the elimination of all “gun free zones,” and restoration of the universal human right of self defense… would bring real progress.
Oh, and I’m failing to see anything at all “good” about this proposal myself. What do you see as good about it?
anything at all “good”
Betsy DeVos in charge?
Department of Justice (DOJ) assistance programs will be leveraged to enable schools to partner with State and local law enforcement to provide firearms training for school personnel.
Yeah, they’ll almost certainly get it wrong, much like they did the Flight Deck Officer program.
But even half-a-dozen years ago just thinking about faculty carry was a non-starter. Schools are one of the two remaining nationwide GFZs, the other being government buildings. That control is crumbling, both for public education, and colleges and universities.
Sorry, Larry… I don’t see any good in any of this. Armed faculty will put a thin bandaid on the shooting problem in places, possibly, but the daily injury to the children will continue in ALL of the government “schools.” That is the real problem, of course, and the answer is to get children OUT of those indoctrination/prison camps. The education and safety of children is the responsibility of the parents, and no number of armed teachers can change that.
We are so lucky to have such a leader as Trump who can solve all of our problems.
All within Trump, nothing outside Trump, nothing against Trump.
Hmm. I’m still looking for the “good” part of the mixture.
(Including the part about turning Publik Cesschools into concentration camps like stadiums and airports.)
MamaLiberty (March 17, 2018 11:12am) is right. Some have called for “separation of Church and State”. But, what many Patriots have now concluded is that we (also?) need “separation of SCHOOL and State”.
