Documentary filmaker Michael W. Dean and young newscaster/rapper/actor Neema Vedadi have a new film out called “Guns and Weed: The Road to Freedom.” You can view the trailer here. And download the entire film from Freedom Feens (you’ll need a bit torrent client). The film is scheduled to be officially released by a distributor in spring 2011. But you can download with the blessing of the movie’s creative commons license. The online version is NSFW due to language. The spring release will be slightly shorter and cuss-free. In either version, you’ll see some familiar faces, or at least some freedomistas…

Of course.
OMG. I just learned that Aaron Zelman, founder, guiding spirit, and chief cook and bottle washer of JPFO, has died. More than a week ago. I woke up this morning to a reader’s letter, passed along by BHM’s webmaster, Oliver. I could hardly believe it. Then I found the above-linked mini-obituary that sadly says so little of the man. There should be so much more! I hope there will soon be tributes all over the ‘Net. Aaron and I worked together for seven years. I admired him and even though he could be crazy-making at times, he had one of…
“The verdict that may shake Russia.” I damn well hope so. The only thing this guy’s guilty of is challenging authority. Hey, this might work — being “too systemically important” to fail. Worth a try, anyhow. A word that’s been crying out to be invented: screwflation. Juries. They’re starting to rebel. (The good news is from Ellendra in a recent comment section.) Hm. In this economy, people are still quitting their jobs with no new work lined up. The article tsk tsks. But it kinda makes sense — considering screwflation and all. What kind of “justice” system sends somebody to…
I recently turned in a S.W.A.T article about hapless small business people who got entrapped into (allegedly and unknowingly) bribing officials of an Unnamed African Nation. They’re all facing ruin and prison time. So. Halliburton has now paid $250 million to Nigerian officials to get charges dropped against Dick Cheney. Okay, FBI, where are you when serious bribery is going down??? The really sad thing is that the current article I’m working on for that ‘zine covers exactly the same sort of shakedown and payoff being committed by a corrupt government (but I repeat myself) right here in the U.S.…
First thing: Many thanks to K. and M. whose PayPal donations made my day. And — I don’t know whom to thank for this because Amazon isn’t yet telling — but I see apricots in my future. 🙂 I’ve had too few apricots in my recent past — and one can never have too many of the little beauties in one’s future. Now on with the ranting, raving, giggling, snorting, news reporting, and other distractions of the day: Did you hear the one about the anti-gun legislator who shot an intruder in his home? (Yes, another one of those hypocritical…
This hasn’t been verified. Could the FBI really put a backdoor into an open-source operating system — and have it go unnoticed for 10 years? Seems dubious. Isn’t a major point of open-source that thousands of geeks can freely examine the code to find and correct bugs, bad coding — and backdoors? In any case, hats off to Theo de Raadt for immediately taking the accusation public. As the creator of OpenBSD, he has as much to lose as anybody. But he’s obviously got a boatload of integrity, too. “A fresh Gallup Poll released this morning reveals that somehow 13%…
Geez, they could at least have shouted, “Drop that hose nozzle, m******f*****!!!” before they shot the guy. Dontcha think? Abandoning a city. Now, will we see Mad Max in America? Or will the abandoned residents develop their own voluntary institutions? Oh. Wait. We’re talking about Detroit. It’s already Mad Max in America. This is pure skulduggery. And it’s brought to you by Dodd-Frank financial “reform.” Like, don’t faint from surprise or anything. Privacy alert, courtesy of Bigjack who posted a link about web photo geotags while commenting on my Christmas tree post: Your camera might be revealing your location. Not…
Uh oh. The Fibbies have done it again. And the R-party will, too. Of course. But you’ve gotta admit, the rapidity with which they tap-dance around their own alleged principles is dazzling. Now that’s a headline. “Finding My Spending Identity. Because New Years is coming up and a lot of us are thinking about that sort of thing. More zero-intelligence school policy on guns. This time the victim is an honor-roll girl. But this time the place is … urk! — Montana??? (Tip o’ hat to PT.) No surprise. All the serious thinking about Assange and WikiLeaks (and “CyberWar I”)…
Thirty-nine percent of the polled U.S. public appear to be terribly misinformed. Don’t know whether this is true. But would anybody really be surprised if it were? The radiation may not be the only health hazard. Heh. So much for trust, but verify. Maybe they shoulda seen the signs. Want a free gun? Pretty cool one, too. All the systemic corruption of the U.S. financial system … all the horrendous harm bankers and regulators and the fed conspired to do to us ordinary working folks and our country. And who does the fedgov decide to go after??? OMG. Insider trading.…
Well, golly. Maybe this explains why Ben Bernanke’s economic concepts are so … um, oversimplified. Upcoming: This Friday is (once again) National Ammo Day. Maybe you could buy yourself a box of Glasers or other frangibles. You know. Just in case the airline doesn’t supply them. Good question: If you owe uncomfortable amounts of money, should you pay off debt first? Or should you set aside a fund to tide you over in case of emergencies before getting aggressive about your debts? Sierra Black of Get Rich Slowly has her thoughts. Bovard on the biggest threat to freedom. Wow. these…
