Nine years after implementation of Common Core, schooling standards continue to fall. (True, no doubt, but let’s note that they’ve been falling under virtually every government-driven initiative, ever, and in fact falling since universal government schooling was imposed.)

My maternal grandfather began teaching school in 1905. My mother was a teaching assistant at the University of Texas and went on to a PhD and professorship there. I recall (vaguely, I admit) discussions back in the WW II era about quality problems in K-12 schooling.
My own observation, having had a son graduate from a public high school in 1980, is that the more the government has become involved in education, the lower the quality thereof.
I note that the data appears to show that home-schooled kids are in general better educated from an all-around view and are better socialized due to the absence of gang-banger types around them,
