The title of James Altucher’s article is “How Dylan Stole the Nobel Prize and You Can, Too.” But of course Altucher being Altucher (either an Outlaw masquerading as a mainstreamer or a mainstreamer cleverly pretending to Outlawdom), that’s not what he’s actually talking about. He’s parsing the Dylan/Hendrix song “All Along the Watchtower” (Hendrix classic version here). Which is, of course, a classic of Outlawry. Here are the lyrics: “There must be some way out of here” said the joker to the thief. “There’s too much confusion, I can’t get no relief. Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my…

Sometimes you need to say “no” to Big Brother
Historian has another of his remarkably philosophical blogs, new today. This one is on who are the guilty in the present mess we’re in. Historian’s writing is powerful and true and just a little bit poetic. As it tells a truth this piece carries a drumbeat of both terror and triumph. Absolutely be sure to read it; it isn’t long, but it’s packed full. It made me think of something related. We, you and me, out here on this blog in the early winter of liberty, are not responsible. We may have been at some time in some miniscule scale…
We’re cruising down life’s highway and we find ourselves backed up in traffic by a colossal wreck. Glass and metal and blood and guts are strewn everywhere. Some survivors scream for help, while others lie bleeding out, pierced by steering wheels and shards of glass. But never fear! First responders are already on the scene. The experts will soon handle the ghastly situation. Except that the “experts” on this particular highway of life are standing there screeching at each other about their Twitter messages, tax returns, fat-shaming, mutual degrees of personal and financial corruption, and whether or not they enabled…
These look like fun. (NFI on my part; and they don’t seem to be on Amazon.) (Via Garry Reed — who also recommends Kent McManigal’s children’s book, Indy-Pindy: The Liberty Mouse.)
Paul Rosenberg: United We Fall. Mass movements and leaders always drag us in the wrong direction. So… So, if you need a pile of bodies to knock down other bodies, unity’s your ticket. If you want a large number of people to turn off their minds and obey you, unity’s also your ticket, especially if you mix in some fear. But if you want, thinking, creative, upright, beneficial human beings, ditch unity and call for self-will. As individuals we rise. United we fall. Didn’t realize Rosenberg also has a new novel out this year. Even though it’s a collapse-of-civilization tale…
Silver here. Claire has been very kind to lend me her soapbox. It is a pleasure and privilege to address her audience of freedomistas and freedom outlaws. I’ll contribute to this blog from time to time, but most of my efforts will be in the new forum. I’ll cover money, free-market economics, business, taxation, commerce, a few other areas where I have some expertise. There was some good, fun news recently, and a number of free-market/freedomista (they are related!) web sites picked it up. The Federal reserve created a Facebook page,***** (dire warning below) and the comments are overwhelmingly negative.…
