Just got home from a day away. I learned that the Paladin Press close-out sale started last night. Fifty-five percent off on everything. They’re apparently going gangbusters. For those interested in my books, last I heard they had 53 copies of The Freedom Outlaws Handbook and 25 of The Bad Attitude Guide to Good Citizenship. I decided not to use my author’s prerogative to buy any of those copies. I have zero of either book. So if you want the originals, get ’em while you can from Paladin. At some point, I’ll likely be republishing TFOH with the help of…

Ava still has the energy of a puppy. She’s slim, trim, fast, and excitable. Given her breed mix and her condition, Furrydoc says not to be surprised if she lives to be 20 — and I’ll be happy if she does, as long as she’s healthy and content. So, until the other day when I was searching for a photo to use on Patreon, I totally failed to notice this: Ava at 19 months, April 2007 Ava at 12 years, October 2017 Several years ago a visitor commented on the whiteness of her muzzle and I said, “Oh, that’s just…
15 CommentsI tell ya, it wasn’t easy. Only one of my four browsers would allow me to set up the account — and the one that FINALLY allowed me to perform a full account setup won’t actually let me look at my own page. (Browser security; sometimes it’s a nuisance.) The browser that most adamantly refused to let me do the account setup lets me look at my page just fine. Go figure. Anyhow … here’s my new Patreon page. To subscribe, you need to have a Patreon account (which doesn’t appear to require anything too onerous or privacy-wrecking), and then…
13 CommentsSeen around town: It was posted on a stop sign on an obscure side street, but visible from a main road. I have no idea what it’s about. However, A Revealing Clew was on an adjacent fence post: a sign announcing the location of somebody’s wedding reception. Perhaps the new Mrs. Hendrickson (who neither hunts nor fishes nor camps?) jilted an outdoorsy boyfriend. Perhaps Mr. Hendrickson (who neither hunts nor fishes nor camps?) stole the girlfriend of an outdoorsy buddy. We’ll never know. But wouldn’t you love to? Seen around my yard: A few of the neighbors’ chickens and their…
8 CommentsGood luck to you in in Napa and Sonoma counties. Especially you people of Santa Rosa. It sounds as if this horror came up literally overnight and a lot of people have been lucky to survive it.
9 CommentsYesterday was one of those days. If I wasn’t spilling something I was knocking something over. If I wasn’t knocking something over I was stepping in something and tracking it onto the rug before I realized what I was carrying (thank you, neighbors’ unfenced dogs). If it wasn’t me breaking something, tracking something, or spilling something, it was Ava or the cat. By the time afternoon walkies came around, I feared leaving the house lest a tree fall on me. Then I decided if I stayed in, a tree might fall on me. So Ava and I headed for the…
21 CommentsYou may have heard that Antifa and other such marginal groups as the Revolutionary Communist Party* are planning a big to-do on Saturday, November 4. This is no average street-violence to-do. No, this is the first day of the revolution. Or a civil war. Depending on which group’s doing the shouting. Or maybe just a day of (misnamed) anarchy. A number of conservative websites are crying alarm. We had some conversation about this over at Claire’s Cabal. One person was pretty apprehensive. A couple said they’d either be taking extra preps with them that day or would avoid urban areas…
