I love dog stories, have ever since reading Jack London and Jim Kjelgaard as a kid, and true life hero dog stories make my day. We now have 3 dogs from shelters – it seems every time we drive near a shelter another dog appears in the car.
Tree antenna – maybe I’ll try a little experiment. Make a tree antenna as described, then run another wire, same length, same height to the tree, but not attached to a nail or bolt driven into the tree. That should tell if the tree as part of the circuit has any effect.
Another possible experiment – just run coax to the tree, attach center conductor to nail or bolt, attach shield to ground or counterpoise.
Damn, I’m never gonna get any chores done if I keep coming up with antenna ideas to try.
